Interesting Error
Okay, I just stubled upon this yesterday on my friend's pc. It's gotten me curious because I have never seen it before and google doesn't return much advise. The error pretty much is that he's trying to play a private server but when he patches over the cabal files and start to play he gets an error called "Failure, registry write, restart". If anyone has seen this error before or knows anything about it let me know I am trying to investigate the cause of this.
He's running XP btw. So it's not some vista related issue which is why I was like o.O ...lol..

Re: Interesting Error
He is running a cabalmain that isn't a pserver one or he is not using the batch file to launch. In official clients running both cabal.exe and cabalmain.exe will actually force the launcher to start and check for patches. The registry error is coming from the patcher as it is trying to write settinsg to the registry and can't.
I saw the same thing trying to update an older US client recently when i was trying to test something and it gave me the same error every time. I just manuall ypatched it for that but the US client should not be udpated for pservers as it causes problems.
Check he is using the batch file as that should bypass the patcher. If that doesn't work then you will probably find his cabalmain.exe has been overwritten with an official one.

Re: Interesting Error
hmm allright chumpy lemme try somethings on his computer. He says he's trying to play GamesPirate Cabal and I know they have their own launcher and stuff, called cabal_gp. The error is occuring when you try to run cabal_gp. I tried it on mine and it seems to work fine...But first let me try to fix the things you said might be the issue I will get back to you on this.
Edit : hmm this is annoying i tried everything, running batch, replacing cabal main and everything...this is annoying chumpy do you think you could get on msn..?
