    Re: Manage own server

Install a virtualization solution for centos and just install windows server as a guest. Either that, or use windows as your host and run linux in vmware/virtualbox as a guest (not recommended). Virtualization is a requirement if you want one server.

    Re: Manage own server

Simple And Easy... You Have Dedicated Server Machine? Good.. Install SQL Server 2005 ( Recommended By Me )... Install VMWare Workstation 8.0 Or Virtual Box.. Install On It A Centos ... ( I Suggest 5.4) Install Databases On The SQL ... Install TDP on Centos.. Connect them togther.. Edit Ur Langauge.enc File with Your Machine IP (Of Centos) And There You Go... If U Want a Web Host.. Use XAMPP .. Easyer To Use.. Maybe Little Bit Unsecured But Well IIS Gives Hard Time Connecting To Your DataBases...

Ron pointed you in the right direction. If you want a server for you and some friends you can use one server with centos and windows as Ron stated above.
You can find vmware network guide in tutorials section.

    Re: Manage own server

Thank you guys for the advices! But the matter is that, at this point, is more cheap buy another server than buy a version of windows server for the virtual box :) (yes, I know what are the cracks, but I don't want problem )

I don't believe that there is some version for free... Or I'm wrong?

    Re: Manage own server

For the sake of less complications just run a windows dedi and use vmware to run centos.

But with your solution there isn't the problem of lag? Having centOS in virtual machine?

    (It's just a question :) )

    Re: Manage own server

"Lag" is the keyword, i think it isnt the right way from beginning to host a dedicate server, 2 vServer are good too -> maybe cheaper as a big root server...
Be careful if you have an windows root, windows server isnt like windows xp, vista, 7 or 8 ;)

You can also host a CentOS server with a virtual windows...

I don't want do a server just my friends, but for everybody!

Maybe for the start up this solution might to be enough and if I reach a good number of active players I will buy another server (so 2servers, 1 for db and 1 for centOS)... right?

Well, this isn't a windows related forum, so I strongly recommend you to google for your answer.

Yes, you're right! Because Ron wrote about "windows server as a guest" and I thought that someone was able to tell me something about it. Anyway sorry.... :)
