Setting a proper server.

Hi to all!

I am new to this section, but i have some previous experience with setting servers.

So what I`ve done already is installing the vmware and centos 5.8 (hope it is proper one) on computer - 1.

I read that i need atleast 2 PC`s for the optimum performance, but i am asking if i can use computer- 1 for both VMware and MSQL? And as far as i can understand i can install MSQL on the PC with the VMware (pc-1 running Winxp, and VMware station).

And my main question is should i use Serenity cabal server files(http://forum.ragezone.com/f459/cabal...elease-838113/) or chumywunpy? And why when i run the vmware i have no internet under my winxp XD.
Are there any recommended templates for building up cabal site.
And my connection is PPOE thus do i need to use no-ip.org

Welcome,
You can run MSSQL and VMware on one pc. The most of us did it at the beginning.
I recommend a computer: +2GB Ram + Core2Duo.

LocalSimons files are "good", but you don't learn how to fix bugs and more... and you'll ask us for fixes. Nobody do your work.
In my opinion, use Chumpys files and add all features by yourself.

I saw many guides about adding this and that so it was clear that i`ll need to fix some stuff. So next question now i`ve downloaded databases from chumpywumpy thread which i asume(hope) will work somehow for the serenity files... or not?

Also why i have no net under winxp and apart from the fact that "cabal client accepts only wan or lan" this means that i should use my local ip , but which one centos/msql (hope to figure it out)

Also can anyone sum up the ip settings? All ips LAN for testing and then all ips WAN?
