If you have a router and you can log in when using the lan ip but not the wan one the problem is the router. Make sure you forwarded ports properly (use an online port checking like ping.eu to check it can see the ports open) and get somebody outside the lan to test it. If they can get in and you can't then you have one of the router types that can't host properly and something like hamachi is your only choice.
