If everything is set up then test by loggin in with a client. Check my sig for the "how to properly start a Cabal client" topic.

    Re: Thing To Do

A guide for winscp/putty is simple:

    1. Start them.

    2. Enter IP of centos, "root" user and the root user password.

    3. Log in.

It isn't any more complicated than that. Beyond that all you need is the ability to navigate folders, drag & drop files and knowledge of a few basic linux commands.

Just because you have installed the virtual machine with cabal already on it doesn't mean that bit is done. DId you configure it for your network as the guide told you to yet? Did you upgrade the 2.5 preview files in it to the 2.5 final as they are different?

Check the guides in my sig as there is one that covers everything about installing and configuring MSSQL2005. The fact you don't know about the linked server means you have ignored all guides and done a default install of mssql 2005, and the default settings don't work. You are going to have to uninstall and reinstall using my guide.
