    Yes it is, this have been talked so much before and after a brief search you will find it. You need to do some changes to the current files to work on ubuntu.

    is ubuntu similar to VMware EXSi 5.0 (virtual machines)?currently i'm using EXSi 5.0 and it works

    No, you're making a huge confusion. Ubuntu is an OS while Vmware Vsphere is a way to manage multiple virtual machines(with different OS) on the same physical machine
