VMware Installation Error Need Help On Finding Resolution

I am using Windows Server 2003 32 Bit with 2 GB of Ram.
My Error:
Warning 25301.IIS configuration failed (131073). You will have to configure the VMware site manually.

What have I done so far?
restart the installer and unticked install management tools.
tried to use a local pool, which has full access.

What do I think might work?
To fix just uninstall the web component and uninstall IIS then reinstall IIS and then web interface reinstall it again fixed it for me. To do that just run the install and use the modify option.

Do I understand it?
No, please explain how the above is done.

That error is perfectly fine and you can ignore it as it always happens and it won't stop anything important from working. I use vmware server at work and see the "error" every time but it is really more of a warning.

Vmware server comes with a web user interface which it tries to automatically set up but it always fails with that type of error. If you have IIS installed and running the vmware installer complains that it can't edit the default web site and the only thing you can do to avoid the error is stop the default site before installing vmware and it will configure it's web UI, then you have to manually set your default site again (you can find this trick in the vmware knowledgebase).

Obviously if you don't have IIS installed then there is no webserver for it to install to and as most people use XP and don't use IIS this is the more common error.

We don't use the web UI anyway (it's horrible) so having that component not working is no problem for us at all.

Although I do not know what to do next. The next step is to run the console, however I don't think it was installed due to the error. It rolls backs. No desktop icon. Would higher version of VMware work? I am using the VMware Server 1.0.7. So I have no idea on how to configure it.
