I use Win7 Home and should be the same for you also. I use:

MSSQL 2000,
CentOS 5,
VMWare version 7.1.3 (build-324285),
And the suggested client from OGPlanet ( in stickies on main Cabal forum page )!

All works fine for me. Hope this helps you!
