Can I ask some advice if which is better to use for the mssql 2005 server database? What do you think is better Operating system for this? Windows server 2003? windows XP? or Windows 7?

I suggest you to use Windows XP because in windows server you will get some errors and windows 7 ... eat to more ram

Windows Server 2003 is the best for the DB. It can have permission problems, but only move the DB's in a folder in program files.

Also most of anti-viruses for windows server 2003 is not free, like avast.

Windows Server 2003 is concepted for virtual machines. I think Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP untouched have the same performance.
