You use launcher.
Launcher will make connection to the ip set in config.
Launcher will compare the history from the client with the history in the ip.
If history is the same then say ready to go, If not will start looking for the update after the client version.
Launcher looks in IP update folder for the correct version folder, verifies how much files are in the folder.
Launcher says all ok start downloading the files.
If all files are received then uncompress.
Launcher got all files ready it adds them to data.pak.
Launcher says ready to go.

Forgot to say you can use http or ftp protocols its up to your mind and configs ;)
