[Help] Mincraft error when trying to connect to own server
I am on the same network as the server which goes through a router, so that is not a problem for me, and I know will be a problem for others if I dont forward the port.
so the error message:
internal exception: java.io.IOException: Bad packet id 14
I have googled that it could be to do with an update clash or my client not being authencated (which it is)
so it is confusing me slightly...
any help?

Re: [Help] Mincraft error when trying to connect to own server
What kind of server are you running? Beta or Classic?
You might be mixing up classic with beta. Basically connecting to a classic server with a beta client or vise versa.
Also, if you happen to run a beta server with a beta client make sure they are up to date with each other.
If none of that:
If you are running beta with beta client try going to the Beta's servers properties .txt file and change ONLINE MODE to False. See if that helps.
NOTE:
http://www.minecraft.net/download.jsp = Beta.
http://www.minecraft.net/servers.jsp = Classic.

something
Re: [Help] Mincraft error when trying to connect to own server
Basicly it means the client doesnt know what to do with the information it recieves, often this error is reasoned by an corrupt / outdated server mod.
Or it can be as Shade said, that you've mixed beta and classic.

Re: [Help] Mincraft error when trying to connect to own server
yeah make sure you got the newest one with the new update and go into your router settings and portfoward 25565 TCP and you should be all set (i was) make sure the server properties is connected to port 25565 and save and run your server test your self connecting to the server using your ip adress if anything if it does work just connect to localhost afterwards.
