[Help] Minecraft - eating up my power?

Everytime I run my minecraft application my computer overheats, and the fan goes LOUD and wild. When I turn off my laptop and turn it back on later, it says something about my blockage of fan - even though it get's enough and and is on my table. Then I have to fix System Repairs by deleting my files by pressing cancel ect.

    I have a Compaq Presario CQ56-115DX Notebook

    Can anyone help?

Never heard of "Compaq Presario" computers before. But this only happen with Minecraft or does it happen with all Java games?

It's happened with Adobe, also. Habbo Hotel and Habbo Private Server's clients do it now. Never used to do it before.

Minecraft is very resource intensive. It may be simply that your computer is overheating from plain work.

How long have you had the computer? Maybe its time for a new one?

    You've never heard of Compaq?

Anyway, Minecraft is a very resource intensive game (3D games + Java = o noes). I recommend getting a better computer, or running Minecraft on low settings (like I do - shitty Inspiron 1545).

Another option is to play on a Linux distro, as JVM works better on a Unix machine :D.

Yeah I agree, had it for a year.

    I'll get a Dell PC - they don't overheat.

    There's your problem.

Compaq computers are well-known for their inability to handle anything that isnt static text.

Minecraft is a CPU-Hog. Most laptops can't play it without reaching high CPU temps. You should look at MineCraftForums for low-CPU-usage mods. Likewise, you can turn on Laptop Power Saving, that should cut down on CPU cycles.
