    Graphics issue

    Hey guys,

    I've recently gotten back into further working on my private server.
    One of the main things I've been trying to do is replace the character portraits.

    I've located the original portraits in ui --> shop_myroom --> chars in the .pak files.
    I searched the internet for the cut-in icons (I'm trying to set those as character portraits).
    I opened all 3 versions (for example, Azer's a_def bar_a_def and w_a_def) of every original portrait and pasted the new images onto them and saved, maintaining most of the original properties and making sure the sizes stayed thesame. Pak'd the files, put them in my client folder etc etc and booted the game to see if it worked, but it didn't. The images vaguely appear but they are really messed up and in the top bar they don't even show up, nor do they show up in your records list.

    I've tried many many things to make it work but to no avail so far.

    I'm hoping one of you can tell me what I'm doing wrong or why it's not working.

    Hey!

    I havent looked at the image format but most images are saved in tga, is it the same resolution and color depth etc? What application was used to save the images?

    Thanks for replying chreadie!

    The image format is .tga on both the original and my altered versions, I opened the originals in paint.NET and pasted the newer images onto them. The images are thesame resolution as well, 46x50, 28x28 and 38x38 for the three images per character.

    I'm not sure about the color dept, I'm guessing that would be the problem here. How would I go about solving that? I don't know a lot about these kind of things. I'll start off by googling I suppose haha

    Reporting back in (sorry for double posting)

    After some google research about color dept and stuff I managed to get it to work! I opened my altered portraits, hit save-as, checked 32-bit and unchecked the compress box in paint.NET and now they work just fine!

    Now I just have to find a cool icon for Nell haha

    Nice work, are those the avatars from a newer version of the game?

    No even the latest official servers still use the old avatars. I took the icons from the first cut-ins and resized them to make them fit in the avatar slots so it's a custom set.
