note [Help] Login server is down

    Hello,

I know i am not the first one to have this problem, i followed theterror's tutorial, everything, i checked all the ips in client and server side, they are all correct. I made the accounts, activated them, and still when i try to log, i get that "Login server is down".
Thought: ok i forgot to open the login, so i close them all, desactivate the firewall, relaunch them all, type the command to open the logins, but still.
I searched for other answer about that. I read it's my client not communicating with my server... Now i wonder how because all the ips are correct :/

So i am sorry, i ask some help. I ran out of ideas. T_T
I don't know what elese to do. I mean everything runs fine seems, except i can't login.

Re: [Help] Login server is down

Asking is fine, especially after trying all the usual routes - that's what this forum is here for, after all. :)

So there's a few things you can try. I'll assume you're on the same network as the machine running the server.

    0. I know it sounds stupid but did you really type "alluseropen" into the login server window every time you tried?

    1. Set all IPs in the server's ini files to the internal network IP of the machine (i.e. 192.168.1.2) and try to connect from within your network. If this works, the configuration is fine; it's most likely an issue with your router. But we can try evaluate that in step 2.

    2. Set the IP of the Login, Game and Message server to your network's respective external IP address. Using hostnames won't work, unfortunately. Retry to connect with your client. If this does not work try to open the TCP/UDP ports for Login, Game and Message server in whatever network periphal you have there (firewall + router, I guess). Also note that some cheapo routers may tend to have flimsy interpretations of port forwarding, as in "I forward it for everyone else but not for people within the network", so it would be a big help if you had a nice IM or IRC buddy assist you by also trying to connect to your server.

In case setting these changes don't do jack either, try this: Set the IP of the Login server back to the internal network IP, leave Game and Message IPs external. There's some twisted scenario where you had to use the IP of an interface the server could bind to in order to use it, usually resulting in problems if used with port forwarding (to check skim the logs for the Login server, there should be some winsock binding error).

If none of the above seems to work for you or you wanted to use Hamachi anyway, you could try using a SOCKS server + Proxifier.

In a nutshell: If the Login, Game and Message server ports can be reached and the Auth and Bind server are available from within the network everything should be peachy, as expected. The servers' ini files don't support hostnames, only IPs. The client, however, does support hostnames as it's target.

Re: [Help] Login server is down

I followed those checks myself, and it was still not working.

Actually after,a bit for manipulation i found what the problem was.

My ips were all correct and yes i did type allloginopen. The problem was the SQL.
SQL server was to be used on odbc, not sql client. With SQL client, even by logging from the computer which is the server, i couldn't go through. I reinstalled with odbc 64 and used SQL server this time, but did the rest like in the guide and...

    TADAM ^^ Works.

Now enjoying playing with my man on this game (and he kicks my ass >>).

One thing to fix, the thailand language and description on the items. I guess there is a pack somewhere on the forum or some file to change. Will need to look for that.

Thanks a lot for your help :)
    Thanks for your reply
