For that you dont need to know how to edit these *r3t files. Just look for these effects in packed effect files, and edit spt files, nothing else.
for r3t- look for my advanced effect guide. BSP is a big now - its a very complex map file. There is no way to currently edit them.

My Photoshop CS5 gets a parsing error. Says it cant load the .dds files that the .r3t creates
then the dds file you got is corrupt or malformed.
