Edit login port (Login Server Connection Failure)

    Hello,

I am using the 2.2.3.2 client from PlayRF uploaded by ammandes (in this thread here)

I also edited the original launcher RF.exe to connect to my IP. The launcher opens normally, however I can't login to my server (I get the error "Login Server Connection Failure")

But I can still connect to my server using these two launchers posted in the releases section: this one and the Dev launcher

So, to figure out what's happening, I used TCPView. As expected, both launchers connect to the login port 10001. However, it seems like the RF.exe launcher is trying to connect to the port 27780. That would explain why I am getting the login server connection error.

But then I looked into RF.exe using 010 editor and could not find any place mentioning the login port. Additionally, I tried to use some strs that I have here and none of them helped me with this (in fact, the only one that worked properly didn't mention any ports)

I guess I could alternatively modify the port used by the login server, but I also couldn't find the port configuration anywhere.

So, how can I change the port used by the RF.exe launcher or the login server?

make sure to change login port one,

also 27780 is zone port not login port...
login port in login server can be changed using strs on that thread too...

See above. You didn't set all of the required ports.

    also 1 more thing,
IP on launcher only used to connect to emulator,
the server IP (for login) is in the emulator config...
in case you are not setup it locally...

I have already tried the launcher from this thread. But when I try to use it, it simply disappears after that message "Connecting to Launcher Update" or something like this. In fact, it happens with most of the launchers that I try to use with this client 2.2.3.2 from PlayRF. Do you know what could be the reason?

Then, I edited the port of Login Server to 27780 and of Zone Server as well to another random port using the strs from this same thread. When I did this, I could connect to my server successfully using the launcher from PlayRF edited with my IP. However, when I disconnected and tried to login again, it started to give me the same error as the other launchers (disappearing after the "Connecting to Launcher Update" message). Note that I didn't change anything between these two attempts...

    Any guess on what's happening?

I've never had those issues before. I know it sounds useless, but I'd go over your config again. Check all IPs, MSSQL configs, make sure you didn't change any nation codes.

The weird issues like you're seeing are usually from settings you shouldn't touch being changed.
