Re: [Help] How to edit A3 Launcher size
[offtopic] so far I have tried VS2005 over XP, but since there are too many changes from VS98 I had to stop using it for a while. I lack the patience to learn things from the scratch again. The whole help system confuses me more than the VS98 does. Sometimes I miss the linux man pages philosophy. Sigh... But I will have to start over at some point.
You can have any version of VS installed in the same computer, and they dont mess each other ... except for the debuggers, and those are a mess by themselves.
Re: [Help] How to edit A3 Launcher size
why does it has to be a MSIE control ?
From my point of view, a good launcher should:
1) check if the server is ONLINE and clearly state that. If the server is kaput, let the player choose to play hearts or spades.
2) check latency ?
3) check some critical files @ client side. Crc32 would be great. also running process which may interfere with A3 (did you get it?).
4) if everything above is OK, then: check if theres updates.
5) show the lastest news from a simple text file (which may be retrieved from a web server, but it doesnt has to be a web page). players are supposed to check the forum anyway ... (mark "supposed").
6) it must be simple and fast. Nothing is more annoying to me than a high resolution picture covering most of my screen and wasting processor ussage when I just need to hit the start button.
just my opinion.
