[Help] Is it possible to run the server and a client together?

Hi,

i'm setting up a server to play alone for some time...and try some things

can i run the server 2.05 and a client together on the same machine? i've searched the forum but i couldn't find any thread about this issue

i've a PIV 3,2 HT, 1MB cache, 1 GB RAM and 140 GB HD

Yup u can run Server & Client on a same PC ... and ur PC Specs Are enough to handle it so chill & Runn ur Server!!

Only you need more Ram. CPU you good but 1 GB Ram is small to server and client.

sometimes ur zonserver will hang i.e will give u value 0 for the looping n by that time..u char will freeze...

Yes, Mr. Akaruz. You right. When i put to my old server all maps, my computer is werry slowly and lagy. When upgrade to 2 GB run propertly.

Exactly. The whole problem is that now with the new episodes I will release soon - you will all need to go for 2GB+ RAM for even the server to start up properly. :( cant help but has to happen.

Well to say i have a possible way of running the server and client on system with less that 1 GB of Ram :P

Firstly increase your paging file. It depends on the amount of memory you have less than 1GB. For instance if u have 640 mb u need 3 GB approx.

After running server leave it for 15 mins
Then after launching the client at the login screen leave it for 5 mins - 10 mins depending of ur ram. For better results minimise the game and leave it for 5 - 10 mins and then maximise and login.

Trust me it works!
Whem you open the A3 Client it takes lot of ram to initialize but when you leave it for some time it will free up ram and hence you can login.

No one ever denied the fact that the server will start but it wont run and once the virtual memory is filled up - the server will crash. At one point or another.

Yes. You seriously did not understand what I was trying to explain to you out there. The client and the server both will run maybe without lag too after waiting for a lil time but the server will eventually crash and the system will reboot.

It is necessary to have 1GB of Physical Memory no matter what for the smooth running of the server. The page file is a secondary option.
