    [help] view range

    Hi folks.

Been searching in the forum, perhaps did the wrong search, anyway couldnt find any information related the range of view. Im not referring to the terrain, but the mobs appears only when I get pretty close, and I remember it used to be a wider range.

I guess it must be something client and server side.
    any ideas?

    thanks.

Well i think it depends on the Resolution of A3 Client. Not sure about this but playing the game with highest graphics might yield best results. Well lets wait for Ins@ne's reply!

That really doesnt change if you ask me. It maybe just coz of frame lag for you. Try playing the game on highest graphic options and see. If that doesnt work, then we'll think it out.

P.S: It's great to have you back on the forums. :icon6:

    Re: [help] view range

well, since I have tryied on maximum resolution at first I think thats not the solution. Also I have been looking at the client, and I have seen nothing like an option to be set somewhere in the game. Barely found a <range></range> tags, but couldnt find where its supposed to be those tags. Time to take a closer look at server side.

    thanks anyway. RM.

i have it decoded and im looking at some entries. records are 56 bytes long. (except for the first one which seems to be a header of some kind).

now im wondering how hard should I mess. my first dumb try was to fill some records with FF and client exited stating "corruped file - reinstall client". second try was to replace some bytes in the carode entry with those in the temoz entrie: all npc disapeared in temoz (even the guards are M.I.A.).

Now comes the question: where should I take a closer look?

    edit:
I suspect there must be something at server side because I can see NPC names from very far distance, but no mobs from that range. my guess is: client knows where npcs are located, but it must ask the server where are the mobs.

client knowing npc locations seems a bit "not-right"
becoz the npcs can be moved (or added or deleted) around and u still will be able to see their names from a distance...

though i have no idea how to solve ur problem :juggle:

i was once try to make new mobs appear in new maps...
ur experience of having "corruped file - reinstall client" is nothing cos i have received that kind of error so many times b4 i can get my new mobs appeared. hahaha
after many times of trial, finally i can make my new mobs appear but however the view range seems too short to me and not to say that the maps was so dark..
ive got all the infos from Benxz (dunno y he got banned, he knows a lot of A3) regarding the mc.ull, try to find that post, he says a lot regarding that mc.ull cos i myself forgotten how did i do it unless i have to compare my mc.ull with the original 1....

Remember only the info is taken from the server side. The rest of the data (design, texture, way of workin) all this comes from the client. Thats why the names - server and client right ....? :icon6:

okay...but wat rudy posted was that he tght that the client queries the server regarding only the mobs not the npcs....
i think u have to query abt both...

I really doubt if the problem actually exists. Some maps are just like that. Nothing can be done there. It could just be the eye and not the files after all.

yea maybe me thinks likewise too....
it might also depend upon the config of the rig running the client....

    Re: [help] view range

Well View Range matters a lot especially in maps like S2, Niff C3 when you are playing a mage and you like sedding! You do a sed and it happens that you land up in front of Cynics Tauhnt or Lalon and wooo it gives u a kiss! Interesting Topic! Hope we find a way out!

    Re: [help] view range

Strangely, the game is set this way. For a 1.5 seconds after you sed you dont get attacked by anything and it takes another 1.5 seconds for the creep to get you. If you're not fast enough to move away in 3 seconds, you should stop playing. :D

    Re: [help] view range

Well its interesting thing to know but if you login and dont move on a map you can stay for long time without being attacked by the creeps!
