    Mini(Sub) Maps & MOTD questions

    Hi all,

I have searched through the forum, but perhaps the keywords I used were wrong, so I left 2 questions in mind which I hope someone could help me.

Just like to find out if anyone knows how to fix the following:

    1. Mini map or the so call navigation map on the top right corner of the screen for the following maps are not displaying:
    Clarb 1-3 Floors
    Selvarb 1-4 Floors
    Rangdel 1-4 Floors
    Toscique 1-3 Floors
Hopefully someone knows the fix to re-display it again.

    2. MOTD - Message Of The Day. The grey text that appears when you log in, and in interval timings when you are in the server. Sort of like those announcement messages that tells you Press H for help menu etc.

Where can I locate the files to edit this and what are the things I may need to understand inorder to have it function like interval minutes to hours or seperate lines.

Hope someone knows the above as well.

Here's wishing everyone and also the moderators/administrators of ragezone a Merry Christmas.

    Thank you & regards,
    Ed

as for the minimap, i think its a client problem. its not compiled in those maps, or enabled or whatever.

as for the MOTD, theres a tw_message.ini in zoneserver with binary data. i have located the bytes for the MOTD, its not hard to compare them, problem was when I tried to modify a few of them zoneserver reported a bad msg.ini file
but I bet it should be there.

Umm it should be inside A3Msg_Zone_Tw1.dat and A3Msg_Zone_Tw.dat, I used a hex editor to edit it...

Should be in hex form then. Just search for some english ACSII text and should be able to pinpoint which are the required strings.

    1. The map's dont show coz those particular map files are missing a few parameters in the files. Open Wolfreck (Map 0) and look for the values 16-24 (in XVI32) and insert the same strings into the maps missing the sub maps. This will direct them to the client sub map. This is how I fixed my problem. Dont forget to make a back up copy of the maps in case you screw things up.
Make sure you dont add in even a single extra single byte. 56B should be the file size

    2. Message of the day can be edited in SQL. Find the table "GameServerMessage". If it aint existant in your tables, first back up your copy and then open it as a query and add in a new table with three colums headed by
    AccountID StatusID mbody Message
AccountID=The slot in which your GM ID is present.
    StatusID=1
mbody= leave it blank. i think its for the color editing and all but i aint sure. so dont mess around
Message= enter your message with a prefix parameter %.

All map files are around 257KB in both client and server side. Which maps are you talking about?

I think the client isn't programmed to read certain minimap files. Cos I had the SG Client files and they HAD the minimap but when I swap them on the server it still doesn't display -_-"

Server side files and the client side files look the same but they are not.
The client side doesnt contain information like the spawn rate and the drop rate of the creeps. The server side files are little bit different. They look the same because of the texture details and the graphical objects present in the map which turn out to be the same values!
