Sql2000enterprise edition would be better
As you saying u are new to this you can learn very fast and understand the concept and then you can shhift to sql 2005

What same? You can download SQL Server 2008 express from Microsoft for free.

It is link for sql 2000 ... its better way to download sql... other websites has applied premium features to download it...
and for this version u shuld use sql service pack 3.... i am nt having link for service pack...
go to www.4shared.com and search as 'sql2ksp3'
I am giving u link of sql 2k coz I THINK many of us got success 2 create server using it...and guide also tells to use sql 2k

i followed all the steps till here
Okey at last the wait is over. Now all can have their own episode 5 server of A3.
The Guide is more or less same as that of episode 3 server with almost no change provided you use the files given by me in my post.
OK lets start with the first step to host an a3 server ..
but first of all .. this guide is for one who is setting up the server for the first time so u have to compromise with some facts to get 100% success.. (eg the pass used) u can change it later.
u need some files ... Visit A3 - - Old Archived Files - RaGEZONE forums
first of all install sql 2000 & its service pack...
i m trying to explain the process in brief..
double click the sql 2000 setup file(SQLEVAL.exe)
extract it to c:\ or whatever location u want...
then go to the location & double click the setup.exe
press next> next> next>
then put the name as "sa" (without ")..
next> yes> next> next> next>
select the "use the local system account"..
next>
select the mixed mode & put password as ley (u can choose any other password too but u have to change some file`s content if u choose other password..so i recommend u to choose this password for the first time & after u become an expert use ur own password)
next> next>Finish.
now double click the sql 2000 service pack3 & just click next next (don't change any selection)..
now restart ur computer once..
second step is to place the server files to the correct place
extract the a3server files to d:\
be sure that the location must be as d:\a3server\..... not d:\a3server\a3server\...
the password for these server files is sunrise
now extract the files provided in the folder named C to put in C drive (obviously extract it to c:\)
then go to C:\clan & double click on the mkdir.exe
now go to start>program files>Microsoft SQL server>Service Manager
& click start server..
be sure to remember the server name there coz u ll need the name later..
now go to start>all programs>Microsoft SQL Server>Enterprise Manager
now stuck at this...
now go to microsoft SQL Servers>SQL server group>(local)(Windows NT)>Databases
now u have to create some new databases here by going to action>new database..
1.ASD
2.Character
3.itemstorage
4.Clan
5.A3ItemEvent
6.FriendDB
7.HSDB
how to do this ?

If u r getting ths error, just tell what u see in the box of zoneserver....last 2-3 lines

of each stuff which we use for running the server :)
i was actualy trying to make server on wan
and was changing some ips
then i thought naah
and replaced the files with new files ( loginagent,zoneagent,loginserver )
Do 1 thng ,
have you extracted files to D: ?
if yes then extract that server files again on D: and dnt chnge any .ini files... try 2 run server on ur alone PC... Then create Gm char make ur server perfect to run... for eg. GM Char with set... server xp rate... teleport editing etc. etc
just extract files againg and try 2 run server on ur own PC 1st

when i run this a black screen comes and goes off..

& click start server
when started it looks like this..

it asks are you sure ..then i click yes...then it says successfully entered into registry...and i click ok...and the tab disappears..

1: D:\a3server\0DB_PORT\7770\asd_mw_v1.3.21a Similarly do it in 8880 & 9990 folders
this all comes..

2: D:\a3server\1LoginServer\newLoginServer

3: D:\a3server\2Loginagent\enLoginAgentr (Wait until you get run OK message else run it again)

The Following appears
In this Error Come's " GameIntFail " and after click ok then above program comes..

after all this i just paste the a3client.exe into a a3client
and the gt.ull in the a3 client data folder
the client starts i enter the id and password
but the client is stuck at connecting..
nothing goes further guuyz help me out :D

Can any 1 tell me a link 2 knw abt private servers on ragezone ?

I remember i read an post ... insane or sm1 told that dnt post abt ur private servers in any thread...he told a section or smthng to post abt RZ member's private server...and we should also get to knw abt various running servers.
i am trying to connect from a subordinate pc to my server
but not able to its come failed to connect to the login server
and i have used the a3client.exe which is provided with the files
in the client of my subordinate pc
can you guyz assist me that what all has to be edited to make my server run on lan or wan :)
