You're on a forum that provides private server files (based off other companies' and people's copyrighted work) with a very young audience... do you honestly expect no one to steal your work?
It's just weird but I guess each company has their own way and policies regarding rewards for bugs. I do believe $500 is awfully low for the severity of the bug though. I would expect at minimum $2000 and higher.
EDIT: It feels so wrong calling this a bug. More like someone didn't do their...
Wow, that's even worse. You opened up a piece of your life to them and told them what you wanted to use the reward for and by their actions, they completely blew you off. With the apparent disregard for security (forgetting to set a user/pass for an admin panel? Really now? I'm sorry but that's...
Wow, you had them by their balls. Not sure how you 'accidentally stumbled upon' the heart of their business but if you've already disclosed this to the company, you should totally release the details about your stumble.

It all depends on what you're trying to create, than you can choose which language is better suited to get the job done. PHP is much more widely used than ASP.NET, but I've heard great things about ASP.NET for web development (I personally have never touched it).
I wouldn't say books are pointless, I got started in programming because of books. It helped me a lot better than Google did. I now use You must be registered for see element. though, but I have plans to buy more books in the future as they've been a great asset to me.
What video games do you play the most? Also, what system (i.e. PC, XBOX, Playstation etc.) do you play them on?
I would have to say, I play Battlefield 3 on PC the most at the moment... since it's the only game I really have... Hahaha.
Hahaha, same here. I bought my own BF3 server yesterday just so I could get a gang of my friends to play with me at the same time with low ping since it's located so close to us.
None the less, Battlefield 3 is awesome and I can't wait for the expansion pack.
It really comes down to you and how quickly you can learn the language. Don't spend all your time on tutorials though, try and focus more on developing web applications yourself and going from there. Hands-on work is the best way (in my opinion and for myself) to learn.
I just finished the campaign for Battlefield 3 just a little while ago. I love the game, I just hate how I am running into so many problems trying to play multiplayer. :(
