I set up a server the other day. everything is set up, i can go in game, buy items from the market ect. i sent my friend the launcher and launcher cfg (all set up to my ipv4, my server set to that also) and he gets the updater error (Try 1, try 2...)
I don't have a modem, router, or a vps.
Is there anyway to fix this?.

Check the 1433 port is open.
PHP checking account and password are correct, it is recommended to use the default 123456.
Be sure to turn off the firewall.
Check whether the database has written account.

You have to check again the settings in the source code to determine correct.

I don't recall exact folder, but I do know it is there.
Also it is from the year old education.zip source code.

You shouldn't need shadowcfg.rar as it would already be inside edu.zip
I've left it there just in case.
The Updates.zip file contains updates 1-8 skipping 5 which was a bad update and never given out.
I do not know what modifications were made inside the OVA file itself.
Only the Original creator of that OVA file can tell you for sure, no one else would know for certain.
In all honesty, I'd highly recommend using either the latest release and starting over inside the OVA itself.
Or finding another release to start over using inside it.

It was a long time back and I was in a way different mood (not going into).
But short story shorter. I advise using one of the more "current" releases as those files are bare bones (no features).
Whereas, there are much better solutions to choose from.
Head over to the Release section, take a look at the different options.
Not trying to push you into any choice.
But being your first time and all, I'd highly recommend one of the more frequented Release pages.
Make a choice and most likely there is a tutorial for that Release.
But final word of advice is to not use the originals.
I hope this makes sense and in no way seems demeaning with my using first time and all that jazziness.
