Pallet Town Online
Welcome to my thread, pallet town online is a new pokemon mmorpg game engine that i am coding from scratch using the XNA framework. This is my first time using the XNA framework so its a learning experience to say the least.
This is where I currently stand on progress.
World Data (1%)
- Maps (In progress .0005%)
Battle System (0%)
Wild Pokemon System (0%)
Sound System (0%)
Player/Character Features (10%)
- Login/Logout (In Progress 50%)
- Arrow keys walking (Completed 100%)
- Mouse walking (Completed 100%)
- Trade System (Not started 0%)
Pokemon Data (0%)
Other Engine Features (0%)
Website Features (0%)
Yes i stole that progression template from PokeNation, its just so managable :P
So as you can see, there aint a whole lot to this yet, i just started the project and wanted to let people know its being developed in hopes of finding others who might want to contribute, with sounds, tiles, mapping, spriting, etc.
And here are some pics.

Re: Pallet Town Online
Did you code the map editor from scratch or is it some default tool that comes with XNA?
-
Re: Pallet Town Online
there is no map editor that comes with xna, this was coded in xna to read and save my games map files.

Re: Pallet Town Online
I wonder why you waste your time on a map editor. I'd rather work on my client / server and put a map editor at the last place.

Re: Pallet Town Online
Because I'm at the point where I was designing the map handler and everything and rather then set up a hard coded map and then go back and change it all to be dynamic after would be a pain, the map editor was easy enough to make and it's not fully functional yet, it's just to help with debugging.

Re: Pallet Town Online
Looks great. I just wanted to say thats its right to create a dynamic and good Mapformat at the beginning. With focusing on this you can implement Event Handling for Quest etc. very easy. The only thing i dont get is .. why do you use XNA instead of thinks like Mono to be able to compile a Linux version too ?
