Online Petition for a Linux port of WoW!

No, this is not a server advertisement, nor has anything to do with any online servers, official blizzard, or otherwise, so I didn't feel that this belonged in either of the other WoW forums.

With that said, I stumbled upon this while looking at the Gentoo's Support Board's Gaming forum. In it is a sticky on how to successfuly install and run WoW using cedega (a directX enhanced version of Wine, but it isn't free either). And in that sticky, I saw a link to a petition to have WoW be ported to Linux. I deepy urge any and all, even those who don't even use Linux, to do the entire Linux community (which is reportedly larger than mac users) a favor and sign the petition. And if you ARE a Linux user, you know how important this is. A WoW port for Linux could bring new blood to the Linux userbase.

Not to mention, if coded right, a Linux port of WoW would no doubt have better performance, especially with all those GUI mods/addons I so do love to use.

Yeh well look at it this way..... the ratio of people using windows compared to linux is very high.... linux users are regarded as unncecessary by blizzard... if they had to code it so that it would work on linux they wouldn't get so good, if any, profits..

Wine is very correct for wow.
Do same me, install windows for playing sessions and near the windows computer install a linux (or other nix) station. The best solution ^^
But when i see the performance of my freeBSD station...i dream but i would like to launch wow on it for take a look, i'm sure it will be better than on windows.

Most people who are linux users and gamers have access to a windows pc as well as a linux machine or they dual boot. I think if Blizzard would make a WoW port they would get free publicity from the linux communities as well as satisfy a good percentage of their customers.

Linux is open source I dont think big companyes want there games out for open source linux might be a good comunity but a lot of noobs would use it to hack =.=

Reguarding wine..

What Linux Distros can it run on because i couldnt figure out how to make it work on Mandrak or Damn small linux, or do they need 2 be installed?

Not so sure that Wine can run wow and I kinda doubt it..
WineX/Cedega can run it though and even if Wine CAN.. Id still suggest Cedega for it..
Id more suggest that you dual-boot or have another comp to play it on.. the posix system has never been and never will be intended for running games and will to some point have less performance than what the machine can handle.. Win is even worse in this regard though so you'd prob get more performance than it anyway.. Id much rather sign a petition for some company to start developing an OS that is actually MEANT for games and then a wow port for THAT os.. ^_^
