which does seem to refer to the upcoming Nintendo Revolution.

Displacement mapping is a technique that is used to render detailed surfaces while successfully simultaneously keeping polygon count low.

In regards to the technology, Nintendo has filed a total of two patents. One of them refers to a specialized hardware for vector operations, optimizing the graphics hardware so that the displacement mapping is computed efficiently. The other patent reduces the strain put on the CPU that is caused by rendering a 3D world in 2D.

The technology is not new but Nintendo is patenting its particular usage in Nintendo projects such as the Nintendo Revolution.

It is believed that, with the power of "displacement mapping", Nintendo Revolution can achieve better graphics than the XBox 360 with much less power. Basically, allowing the Nintendo Revolution to advance a bit farther than the Microsoft Xbox 360.

They're using simple, unexpensive hardware but using it diferently in order to perform as good as (or even better than) Xbox 360!

Well tbh, I did doubt it for a second... Its hard to believe they found a way around getting the best hardware for great looking graphics...

you do know about that numb chuck thing

and the fact it has GC connector ports on the front

and their supposed to be making loads of other mobs for the controler...nintendo always do that tho, such as the GB cart thing for the n64, the GBA-GC connectors, hell the bongos :ohmy:

Looks like we will be seeing a new Gamecube.
Lesser Hardware, Lots of power. But I hope it comes before november, or else I will have to buy an X360 first. ( just to sell it after the Rev

well nintendo are trying to move away fromt he cartoonish games. theyve just recently released info on "red steel"...if you check out nintendos official forums in the revolution section theres some talk about it there.

that link shows screenshots to games that we know of so far. red steel is aimed at an older market, also sadness (a full black n white game based loosely around sin city) is also aimed at an older market. however no screenshots are available for sadness only concept art.

point being i think revolution is going to change nintendo and start providing games for older players.

think i prefer it to a 360 which has well cool grpahics and power but a price tag to match or a ps3 which will just be the old console on steroids and new games. dnt get me wrong i think it will be pure class but out of the 3 revolution seems to be the 1 grabbin my attention.
