MySQL uses a lot of memory

Is this normal? My VPS has 4 gb ram and 4 CPU cores, however my CPU is always around 0-5% so not that high with this high memory. I use on my retro RevCMS, MariaDB and Phoenix.
How can I lower it?
Re: MySQL uses a lot of memory
I recommend you to download the latest Mysql Server.

You can use better MySQL server, and it is all about the settings.

I recommend that you use MariaDB.

MariaDB and phoenix are not good together. Because phoenix use alot CPU, mariadb can not handle that. Before you 'recommend' something know you facts, please. Do not recommend wrong things.
Re: MySQL uses a lot of memory
This is most likely due to the poolsize. Here (https://tools.percona.com/wizard) is a handy tool for helping w/ your configuration. I do suggest having a Google for certain variables in the configuration though, certain values require being worked out from your usage, for best preformance.

You're talking rubbish. Its most likely due to poor configuration. MariaDB is just an improved MySQL fork. I've used MariaDB on a hotel with 1,000+ users & with Phoenix and ran fine. I still use MariaDB and perfectly hold over 1,000 - 1,400 daily.

Try to optimize your my.cnf with mysqltuner/ and mysql-primer
Re: MySQL uses a lot of memory
MariaDB is by far superior to MySQL if you configure it correctly. The founder of MySQL is the current lead developer of MariaDB.

You don't know what you're talking about. I host 10,000 players concurrently using MariaDB with databases adding up to over 1TB in size without issue. Do your research before commenting next time.

With MySQL community server you will hold it longer. @Leon, you dont host a hotel. A hotel is heavier then your site with probably 6 pages.
