Getting Started

Hello!
I'm Kaistor and I'm a casual developer looking to start a new PW server. I realize people usually dislike anyone who asks simple questions, however my question is as simple as it can be.

Where do I start?

As someone who's never done this before, I don't have any clue what I'm doing, and I don't want to have to rely on constantly asking someone questions, so I'd rather ask this one question now, and build my way up from there.

If anyone could recommend a good thread to start looking at for development that would be great, my goal is to have a fully functioning 1.5.1 server if possible.
