Apollo ~ Habbo HTML5 Base [+ CMS] - Java [NOT FINISHED] [1 YEAR OLD PROJECT]
Hey.
Today I decided to release an one-year old project from Johnix and me.
Its called Apollo.
What is this?
Apollo was a try to code Habbo in HTML5 using a Java Emulator.
Why didnt we finish it?
While coding, we lost our interest in Habbo.
What did we finish?
- Chat
- Rooms
- Catalogue (started)
- Items (started)
- Multiplayer
- colored Chatbubbles
- a few commands (moonwalk, ha, alert, roomalert, sit, ...)
Screenshots (from german dev. thread: https://retrotown.ws/index.php/Threa...TML5/?pageNo=1)

This is absolutely amazing. Too bad you won't continue it. I really hope someone could pick this up ^.^

Good as always, keep it up.
Greetings from Germany,

Re: Apollo ~ Habbo HTML5 Base [+ CMS] - Java [NOT FINISHED] [1 YEAR OLD PROJECT]
Thank you for the release. You managed to change the design up a little and still keep the Habbo feeling. (actually I think this design looks better than Habbo's current UI) Also it's amazing how far you came with developing all kinds of features. Very very nice!

Yeah we might do something with it. Looks interesting. Lotta graphics to modify to make it legit though.

Re: Apollo ~ Habbo HTML5 Base [+ CMS] - Java [NOT FINISHED] [1 YEAR OLD PROJECT]
Cheers for the release, managed to get it working:
http://puu.sh/lD2A1/ea10f30eeb.png
Do you by chance have a copy of the version used in the screenshots? If so it would be much appreciated if you were able to provide it, as the copy provided appears to be an older build.
This copy doesn't have an updated database (although it wasn't hard to update), it doesn't have items implemented, the speech and typing bubbles don't seem to be displaying properly, the walk timeout isn't working and the design has noticeable differences compared to how it looks in the screenshots.
I'll definitely be working more on this, thanks again for the release.

Nice, good luck!
And No, im sorry. I didnt knew that we already have started changing the style to the new.
Here is how it looked:
http://s14.directupload.net/images/141124/ljskpx6e.png
The bubbles are fcked up cuz we had new bubble images and we didnt updated the css and the images. But Im sure 1 colored bubble should work..
Im really really sorry, I did not look in the source for about 1 year :/

Re: Apollo ~ Habbo HTML5 Base [+ CMS] - Java [NOT FINISHED] [1 YEAR OLD PROJECT]
Mind releasing a full copy of the database(s)?

I used the Eclipse IDE, just create a project and set the project location to the path of the emulator. From there you can just run the server from within the project.

It's cool, you've done a really good job. I'm sure many people will pick this up and see what they can make of it.

Here's the one I put together, I'm fairly sure it has everything aside from the catalog_pages columns.

I'm not actually sure, I received an error saying the column needed to be added to the table. I haven't yet had a chance to look over it all properly.

The server is just so... ugh :/

Re: Apollo ~ Habbo HTML5 Base [+ CMS] - Java [NOT FINISHED] [1 YEAR OLD PROJECT]
This type of project has been tried so many times by so many people.
Very sad that no-one actually finishes it. One exception is Jabbo for v26 which was pretty complete (playable atleast).

It's looking great! Good job!

Yea, but r63/r63B or what the hell the newest production/version is does have tons of features more than v26 and its twice the work to make a html5 habbo than to code an emulator for a swf. (and now go to f331 and see how long a dev. of an emu does take)

Yep, I know. I love the project though.

You will continue with the project? you will release your edit?
-
Re: Apollo ~ Habbo HTML5 Base [+ CMS] - Java [NOT FINISHED] [1 YEAR OLD PROJECT]
Wow I've been wanting to do something like this for so long but have hesitated due to lack of knowledge and all the bases being very outdated!
Thank-you so much for this. If I ever become successful from this, I will try to remember to give you your dues. :)
Cheers.
Edit:
This stuff is mostly wayy over my head. What purpose does the polygon data serve for each furniture? I can't imagine that it actually maps out the whole furniture.

Despite the fact that I can't get the avatar to show up, I like this. Nice release :)

someone will continue with the project?

Thanks for releasing this. I started my own client + server this week in Node.js and Angular on the client side and I think I'll take a look at this.

Finally someone actually made a HTML5 habbo. If someone could pick up this project that would be fucking amazing.

Re: Apollo ~ Habbo HTML5 Base [+ CMS] - Java [NOT FINISHED] [1 YEAR OLD PROJECT]
Neat project, and thanks for sharing it! Just wondering if the site-part of it has any requirements (like IIS, or an older PHP version - excuse my dumb ass). The server wasn't hard to get working but the site part of it is... proving to be quite the struggle.

Re: Apollo ~ Habbo HTML5 Base [+ CMS] - Java [NOT FINISHED] [1 YEAR OLD PROJECT]
Cool!
Edit:
Changed my mind, it's actually really bad. You just can't call using SVG HTML5.
Sorry but this is seriously probably the worst code I've seen since a long time.

I agree. I've also checked the source and you can't call this an HTML5 project. Its mostly made out of <svg> elements, which already existed before HTML5. The UI is made with divs and CSS. All this stuff (UI, svg, ...) loads the DOM very much.
Also, all the furniture is in the index.html. What is your plan when you get over thousands of furniture's?
HabboJS, an old project of Joery and me was written completely in a canvas. Everything got rendered client-side on the canvas with javascript, and only the furniture was loaded from external images.
I like how you've finished and released this project though. We didn't make it this far.

Would you care to share a few examples of the bad code? I'm quite curious since my knowledge of Java is 0.

We had all in the index page cuz we were too lazy to create external files. Of course, it is stupid to have all god damn furnitures in the page. We planed to load all the items when we need them for a room, catalogue preview afterwards and cache them since they were loaded once.
The others, I dont know and I dont care.
We know that the Java Code is not even the best, like php, but we have improved our skills in a hard way from them on.
Johnix and I got a look in the codes yesterday and we were laughing.
So, dont criticize the code. We know its bad and we dont care about it.

Everyone here will criticize. If they care so much, they can rewrite it :P

Considering the index of the CMS sets static username and password session variables, my guess is that it's incomplete. However, the client and other relevant files to the release are in the apolloc folder.

Why not? NodeJS handle all clients in one moment, and it's much better then Java (like for Games in HTML5, Flash etc.).

Look good , i have plans to build on future a MMO like Habbo , to be Honest more like Mobiles Disco, based on chating on a room and play games like the cunning fox Gamehall concept... I'll take a look to see how works :D

Actually, yes. Just checked my bitbucket repos, both the client and emulator are there lol. Not gonna make it public or upload it somewhere else tho.
