Try to name Sword34.bmd sword, if it does not work so you have a set limit of textures.
Upload your main.exe here and I'll see whether you're allowed maximum items.

you can also try to resize the texture of your sword
1. use MUimgGUI or pentium tools
2. convert your .ozt or .ozj or whatever your sword texture file is to IMAGE file (.ozt = .TGA | .OZJ = JPEG) and see what size it is, if its 256x256 resize with any image editor (photoshop preferable) to 128x128 and save it and convert back to MU file with the tools, if its 512x512 make it 256x256 and so on..
not 100% gonna help but for some it helped.
