So you want to run Mabinogi Heroes?
Easy lets go through the setup shall we?
NOTE: disable all network adapters you don't need to be connected with or you WILL have issues.
Also let me make this very clear in the best way I know how.
IF YOU ARE TRYING TO RUN THIS ON A VPS OR DEDICATED MACHINE THIS TUTORIAL WILL NOT HELP YOU. THERE ARE OTHER STEPS REQUIRED FOR A WAN CONNECTION THIS IS ONLY FOR LOCALHOST!
Now that that's out of the way
Update:
For those that followed the tutorial to get rid of the first time login error
replace start.bat with this
First things first
Install .NET, and WAMPServer(or the webserver of your choosing FIRST before following this tutorial)
SQL Server
Spoiler:
This setup process is pretty easy but requires some fine tuning during the setup
Go through the setup following the default settings for everything until you get
to where you name your instance, and name it anything besides SQLEXPRESS.
Once you enter in the password for sa you can optionally add your current windows user as an admin
continue the install.
Once completed open up the SQL Server 2016 Configuration Manager
Setup your protocols for whatever you named your instance like so
If it connects, great! You can follow basic instructions, you have impressed me :)
Keep it open because its time to move on.
Time to move on to
RESTORING THE DATABASES
Spoiler:
This is a pretty simple process but we will go over it anyways just to make sure.
With the set of server files you downloaded you will need to restore the databases from the database folder
in SMSS right click on your Databases folder and select restore Database.
Select device, the elipses, then file, add, then navigate to your database folder from the zip file
and restore ONLY the ones in the folder. You have to select and restore 1 at a time
Move everything from your webserver folder into your HTDOCS/www Folder
move everything from the client folder into your MHTW folder.
Run the servers
Spoiler:
Go to your server folder and run NMServer.exe
Then open the HeroesOpTool folder and run HeroesOpTool.exe
Login info is root/root
Click Server State and
You will be met with this screen afterwards.
drag and grab all the services and click start..
Once they all say on you are good to go.
Running the client
Spoiler:
Go into your client folder and click start.bat
login with any username/password the account will be created
The first time you try and login it will give you a server maintence error.
Thats normal, just login again same user/pass and its ready.
Congratulations you have completed this tutorial and should be able to play.

Does the Server Store Passwords? and does it Support WAN Connections?

Re: [Tutorial] Mabinogi Heroes Setup
I'm sure it does support WAN connections... am I going to go into how? No, thats outside the scope of this tutorial.
The server only stores a second password. Currently anyone can login with a username and password but they have a 6-12 digit+special char password they would have to break.

Can u PM me the things i need to change in order to use it in WAN? you can be abstract if you want i don't need a very detailed explanation :3
me and my friends would like to play today but being in localhost...I supose i have to change the Hosts, change the web files and probably some other files :/ but on my own it's kind of hard to find all the things... Ty in advance you've done a explendid job with keeping this Server Alive Ty so much
- - - Updated - - -
And Btw Sylas can't be Created :/ i think we should use a older client that doesn't have sylas in it
Is there any chance you have more tutorials coming?

It seems most likely because you have not installed the RCClient/RCServer services that you are not able to login through that tool. I suggest instead of running the, "InstallServices.bat" that you manually enter it through cmd.
you can search for command prompt through your windows search and you must run it as administrator once the window opens browse to the location of the services for me i placed it on my C:\ drive so here is an example.
cd c:\vindictus\server\RCClient
RCClientService.exe -install
NET START "Remote Control Client Service"
cd c:\vindictus\server\RCServer
RCServerService.exe -install
NET START "Remote Control Server Service"

You can do both, Its highly recommended to just do it with LAN, as WAN is outside the scope of this tutorial. I will tell you it is not extremely difficult to get WAN working, but requires some finesse to do so. The server does not require lots of RAM, you can run it with <8GB but with anything server related you should try to allocate a sufficient amount of RAM to it incase of issues.

i have changed the name instances and the sa password. but it just stuck at booting. i am guessing it could be the database in the config file
i thought of adding ODBC. any suggestions??

Thanks for the confirmation PunkS7yle. From what im reading on the released topic of Vindictus. This server files contain Season 3 and EP01 contents and NA official Vindictus is on EP04. Anyone knows if we are able to add EP04 contents to this server? Or we have to wait until someone releases that kinds of server files?

There are many reasons as to why those services are stuck at booting up. I had the same problem for me because i installed SQL server 2016 on Windows 10 and the setup did not prompt me on a sql instance setup meaning no sa/password until i reinstalled sql.
Your case, you did mentioned that you setup the sql sa/password i believe you did not setup the TCP/IP port to 1433 or one of your config files are incorrect. SanGawku has a picture of the port 1433 setup in the first post take a look at that. Run your SQL management and where it asks for connection type 127.0.0.1, 1433 login sa & password if you can login and view your database with that then it means most likely its your configs preventing those services from booting.

Re: [Tutorial] Mabinogi Heroes Setup
There aren't any references for Sylas in the server sqlite database, I'll check if we can add in the client data.
You didn't set the proper hostname, make sure it's all in CAPS, and if you edit the config file, restart RCClient and RCServer from the services list in task manager before checking again.

Re: [Tutorial] Mabinogi Heroes Setup
Ok I can see them now but I get this error all the time:
Thanks for all the work you guys did, was rather easy to setup and worked first try.
I am, however, facing a couple issues here, and I wonder if anybody could lend me a hand.
1) The client crashes most of the time with this: http://puu.sh/pToMv/32dad0bbbc.png
2) The client seems to be completely in Chinese, is there any english translation patch available for it as of now? (tried searching this and the release post, but only found a heroes_text_taiwan.txt file that I can't find a match in neither client or server folders)
Make sure you have the services started:
NET START "Remote Control Client Service"
NET START "Remote Control Server Service"

no your hostname should not be heroes unless you setup a new windows recently with the sole purpose of dedicating it to hosting this game or you recently changed the computer name.
You can get your Hostname aka Computer name by following the steps in the image above,
Right-Click My PC -> Select Properties and get computer name.
Also it might be possible that your RCServer/RCClient may not be running. make sure you use the Net Start commands and check through Task Manager under services you should see RCServer/RCClient and status should be running.
Yeah thanks, just realized the game will read the data from the file, probably uses some sort of vfs.
Still would want to know why the game crashes so much after the startup logos though, kinda frustrating.

You didn't give me time to explain myself was busy trying to quote and answer everyone lol
I was going to re-edit the post with more detail on how to apply the patch as soon as i revised it to answer another's question.
Yeah the steps to apply the patch itself was not explained i just trial & error really, but didn't have to because i got the patch to work on the first try.
Just Extract the Resource folder to the root of the Client folder so it looks like this "MHTW/Resources"
Are you using the client provided from SanGawku's tutorial? I'm using that client and so far i have not ran into any crashes which is odd.

Yes I'm using that same client, only modification was the addition of the English patch, but it crashed even before I added that in.
It's not a lack of memory or any other system resource, so I'm a bit at a loss here, I thought it could be the graphics config or something, but even if I delete/rename config_material.txt it still crashes (and when it loads it just regenerates the file)

I don't think the webserver does anything to the server. since the database is using MSSQL not MYSQL. why the client is in Chinese? anyone has the English patch? There are 3 possible reasons for this. Is your SQL server setup with an SA/password login? And is it setup to run on the top port 1433? It could also be your configuration files take a look at this common error guide http://forum.ragezone.com/f945/tut-f...rrors-1107721/
