Win11 Localhosts crash when inventory opened
Edit: Solved
This is a really bizarre one. I'm running HeavenMS on Win11 and have never had this issue on Win10.
All but one of the localhosts I try always close the game when the inventory is opened. WZs are default and nothing is modified. I believe the contents of the inventory is irrelevant.
| HeavenMS-localhost-WINDOW |
Doesn't crash |
| MapleSilver-localhost-WINDOW |
Crashes |
| resinate's HD localhost |
Crashes |
| Halcyon's HDLocalhostFixed |
Crashes |
| Heni48's Workshop localhosts |
Crashes |
| MapleRoyals Localhost |
Crashes |
| MapleRoyals LocalHostNoWindowedMode |
Crashes |
The only difference I can immediately tell between the good localhost and the ones that crash is that it isn't hardcoded to run as admin. Figured I'd entertain that idea and changed some of the crashing localhosts' manifests to run without admin, but they still crash when the inventory is opened.
It doesn't matter what version of the game or source I use. I even set up a clean Orion v90 and still, the game crashes when the inventory is opened.
Some notes:
- None of the compatibility options make a difference.
- Using the inventory hotkey (i) or getting to it through the menu both trigger the crash.
- No errors are thrown in any sources. It looks like the "crash" is behaving just like if I were to close the game window myself.
- No other UI window crashes, only the inventory.
Does anyone have an idea of what this could possibly be?
Re: Win11 Localhosts crash when inventory opened
Shout out to the Maple development discord for offering their support and solving this issue.
The problem ended up being something with the maplestory registry keys. To fix it, simply delete this folder in regedit:
Code:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Wizet
For me, there were two folders in Wizet - "Maple" and "MapleStory". I suspect one of them was interfering with the other and causing the crash because after deleting Wizet and running the game, only "MapleStory" came back.
Again, thank you to DarkSirrush and MiLin for the troubleshooting suggestions, and dreaM for figuring this out and providing the solution.
