RaGE RO.. RaGEZONE's Own RO Server (Possibility)

Hey all :)

I need some views :). I am currently thinking about starting up a RaGEZONE RO server. Im quite new with RO, so we will need a dev or two, someone who is very experienced with a specific emu (eathena) and someone that is willing to spend alot of time working on the server, adding to it, and making it unique and fun to play. I would be hosting the server, on a 100mbit Dual Xeon dedicated server. Server rates would be low/medium... maybe around 25-30x. The server would be very long term, and hopefully after time, have a nice sized community. The Server dev will get gm etc ingame (after my pick) and full access to the dedicated server to work on the files etc.

What do you guys think? Good idea? or bad?

I'd suggest using Nezumi Emulator for the RO server because it is more stable then eAthena, and I'd probably like to help with the server a little..i started my own server with Nezumi and it's working fine, i can help with Custom Items, such as wings...etc.

I reccomend cycoextreme. From my observations, he seems to be very, very knowledgable in both scripting and server know-how. Oh yeah, he's also a Moderator; so you have to assume he's trustworthy.

sry i meant SVN SQL or SVN TXT versions, txt is much much easier to run and test and fix, SQL on the other hand has had some security faults, registration problems, and also some crash problems with certain clients, so i would reccomend TXT if anything

I suggest you to make a SVN Sql with Linux OS make sure u choose the SVN stable releases =) ---> you get what i mean =p

i myself is making a ro server =) so we will help each other =P

I was thinking about mysql, as its easier to take backup's etc. But if its buggy and has security problems, and the txt is easier to work on etc... then txt it will be :)

I havnt had anyone pm me yet thats interested in dev'ing. The server wont even go into planning untill i got atleast one dedicated developer for the server! so common :p

i have just setup my server everything is working fine.. i suggest you use SQL files it is overall better than TXT Files.. If you want a stable RO server use linux ^_^

I was just about to nominate Takashi, but I also would like to see cyco get in on the action =S Cyco and takashi are probably the most knowledgable in the RO know-how of running their servers.
