Need help running server...

Ok i have been able to run it but only on LAN, ive been trying for 2 days now and no one can connect, i have a 2wire homeportal 1070 and ive forwarded ports: 6121 TCP/UDP, 5121 TCP/UDP and 6900 TCP/UDP.

This is my char_athena configuration:

Eh, you probably have the same problem as me. I've forwarded all the ports and everything, just no one can connect. It's 'cause of your router. There's probably a way to make it work but you'd have to be extremely 1337.

EDIT: From the screenies I don't even think your server's are connecting to each other... Probably a Subnet problem.. What's your subnet_athena.conf say?

Lol, yeah you're having the same bullshit problem as me. I've had so many people try to help, but it just never works -.-; Sorry I couldn't help any further.

Yeah i had the same problem, in the end i did this

on char_athena

put char_ip to your external ip
put login_ip to your internal ip

on map_athena

put map_ip to you external ip
put char_ip to your internal ip

dunno if it will work for you but it worked for me lol

well i had donde what siepie said before, but only ppl on LAN can connect... I made the server at a friend's house and it worked... i guess its my router.

@Takillo : ack, config your router to forward ports 6900, 6121 and 5121 (ports for login-server, char-server and map-server)

Yep, just tried to make someone connect, it failed. Ports are all forwarded and all antivirus and firewalls are down. It's the router :P

I tried with another router (Linksys WRT54G), forwarded all the ports, turned antivirus firewall... and still having the same problem =(

I Dont Think Its The HOST Of The DSL Or The Internet Provider...

Its The Wrong Configuring Of The File....

If Some One Or The MOD's Here... Have A Bright Idea Bout This Problem Were Haveing...

Please Cooperate... Or Just Delete This Thread Anyway.... Its Just A Simple Help We Need

@Takillo : Why don't you try forward ports 80 (for Web server) and 21 (for FTP server) and check them to make sure you did forward right :)

Ehhh doesn't bindip make a server connect to a server hosted on another ip? IE: Map server and Char server on one computer while the login server is on another computer.

Hey guys, I think I may have a solution for your problems here. I actually had the exact same problem for the longest time and I finally figured out how to get people to connect to my server from another location.

The truth here is that you are all thinking about your routers. But you also gotta remember your modems.

A lot of times you will have to forward the same ports TCP on your modem as well as on your router.

When you're forwarding on your modem side though, you will need to forward them to your router's IP which can usually be something like 192.168.1.97, which is what it was in my case.

Hope this helps a lot, it worked great for me

It does put an end to a lot of your problems.

If you cant find port forwarding on your modem its probably under NAT.
