New Mods?

This has happened a few times, so i decided to make a poll about it just to get a feel of the general concensus among the members.

New mods are appearing out of nowhere, and neither myself or anyone else i talk to know who they are. I strongly believe that as a moderator of RaGEZONE, you need to be known by the general RaGEZONE community. Many of these new moderators do not have a single post in the Evolution sections, and lets face it; this is what the RaGEZONE community is. The community is not the horde of noobs chasing after the server files, it is not the people who release files or even the dodgy server admins. Thoes people make up RaGEZONE, but they are far from a community and honestly dont give two hoots about eachother.

We here in the Evolution sections are the community of RaGEZONE and if there are going to be new people who are going to be given the power to warn and ban us, we need to know who they are (and especially, they need to know us). They need to know who we are, how we act, and how to respond to us individually (lets not lie to ourselves, everyone here is treated individually acording to how they have proven themselves as a member).

For example: The Alpha members would be aware of the incident involving GohanSSJ and Lone. Had Lone actually been more active in the Evolution sections, he would have known that was the way GohanSSJ normally talked with people, and he would hence not have recieved the infraction.

So i ask you now, should it be a prerequisite of new moderators to be active and atleast known in the Evolution sections? Or are you fine with complete strangers with the power to do whatever they want?

Note: Kaoii, do not turn this into another thread regarding Gohan and Lone, i used it as an example, and i am not trying to "stir" anything up.

ye i agree i think the mods have to be well known about the community 1st i think i saw a mod who had only joined in 2006 to me i would like to see the mods be a member for a least 1 year and have over 1k posts not just some random person who walks in wanting the job :o

Generally - No.

Lone Is Respected In The Mir2 Community - He Was Modded On That Fact. Other Moderators Were Modded Because They Are Experts In That Certain Section. Others Were Modded Because They Run A Server - EG Me And Soupy.

However - General Mods (People Who Mod Evolution) Like Me Should Be Known To The Community Before Hand - As This Section Is Not Based On Rules But The Way In Which The Tide Is Turning. It's A Hard Job So Experienced Members Need To Do It.

I've played Mir2 before and trust me Lone was NOT respected..
Yeah maybe he know something about the game, but many others i knew had the same knowlegde. :smurf:

pretty much what dtb said mods are given there sections for there activness/expirtice(how ever thats spelled) in that particular section and no one can be expert at evo and all that so i agree they should be known but the mmos shoulent

I agree with DTB (except for the Lone part, he obviously doesn't know the things i do), it should be that a proper judgement can be made on wether that person is capable of being a mod, however that doesn't neccasarily have to mean they have to be known to most members.

However they shouldn't go abusing power either.

Btw Rishwin, Lone did know me, he never liked me, i'm sure this is part of his little revenge, he's a sad person though.

Like i said many times before, it was abuse of power.

And that's why proper recruiting should be done, he should have never been mod in the first place, he was always extremely immature.

no, i mean all mods.

as mods, you all have the power to ban us (via infraction). now lets assume for a moment DTB, that you are no longer a mod. now everyone knows you are nutorious for your flaming and (for lack of better words) abusive language. thats fine because everyone has learnt that is the way you are. now lets say a new mod comes along, decides to check (for the first time) the evolution section, sees one of your posts, and their first reaction is to go straight into your CP and infract you. Or, not even that, if you posted in their section, they would just go ahead and infract you.

1. this will cause a massive uproar from you.
2. it will get them introuble with the other mods (if it was not their section).
3. it causes a whole lot of unnessesary problems.

imo just because someone becomes a GM on an RZ server, does not mean they deserve the rank of mod.

when i first became mod, there were actual standards you had to meet... you had to be a member for so many years, you had to be so many years old, you had to have so many posts, ect... every mod recruitment, the standards drop drastically.

Aslong as they are doing their job it shoulden't be a problem. If they can't do their job due to lack of experience(ingame/outgame) then de-mod them!!! standard.

well rish there is a mod trial period where they watch your actions for a while and if you go into the wrong section and infract someone im sure if they pm mental nicely he will remove the infraction and speak to the mod about there actions and let them know that they are assigned to a section and only that section and i dunno about when you was mod but i cant infract any one in any sections that arent mine
