Client patching question - [Guide to Ensue]
I'm new to the forums and have a couple questions that searching hasn't really helped for me. I know that there are a few others out there with similar questions, so I will attempt to alleviate some future inquiries and create a guide once I have some answers.
(If this has been explained in lamen terms and I have failed to notice, please disregard this.)
Here is my current setup:
- Windows XP SP2
- eAthena 8920 SVN Trunk (Installed @ C:\eAthena)
- Downloaded and installed both
- RAG_SETUP0711.exe
- SAK_SETUP0711.exe
- Have successfully configured server and connected via an unknown hexedRO.exe + sclientinfo.xml (with 07 as Language)
My questions are as follows!
I have connected to multiple other private servers with their .RAR download/patchers, and as an example AnimaRO did not create a "hexedRO.exe" or Data folder within my Gravity\RO system. However, when I connected to AnimaRO a nice little patching system will show itself and help me with updates, and Item/Card/etc text are not gibberish but in English.
So with that said, I'm looking for some pointers on where to start on a couple things.
I'm assuming the patching system is Neoncube? Can someone verify that this is correct?
I'm at a total loss as to how they configured a client without the need for a hexedRO.exe and sclientinfo.xml setup. What files would I need to accomplish this task? Are tools version specific to the rag/sak_setup files?
Hopefully these aren't too of noobish questions.
I plan to help the community with a guide on RO patching and serving, so any input and comments is muchly appreciated.
