OFFICIAL GUIDE TO PLAY ON D4 SERVER (revised)
----------------CURRENT SERVER STATUS : ONLINE----------------
Ok, sorry for the long wait but I have finally sorted out the problems (most that is :/ ) Anyways, here is how YOU can connect and play on my server.
PART I---------------------------------------
First and foremost, you need an account obviously. To register an account for my server, please send me the following through either MSN msger, e-mail, or through the private messaging system here on RaGEZONE. Please send your request in the following fashion to make your registration as easy and quick as possible. Please state:
MSN name: (optional but makes it much easier for me to tell you things such as when server is down or up, or any updates you guys may need)
Desired ID name in the game:
Desired password: (CAPS do NOT matter)
Once I receive your registration form, I will enter your account information as soon as possible. To make things quick I usually do a bunch at one time every couple of days or so, so you can expect to be on pretty quickly.
PART II------------------------------------------
Now, you are registered to my game. Your next step is actually get the gamer program itself, also called the "client". To do so, go this link RapidShare Webhosting + Webspace. Once you get there, click on the free download button and it will take you to another page where there is a timer. Since you are not a paying member of the site, it will make you wait like 60 sec. or maybe 2 min. Once you are done with that, it will give you a code. Enter in the code as you see it and then hit the download button. Hit "SAVE AS" and save it to your desktop. You now have the client.
PART III - Unpacking Client---------------------------
Next, you need to unpack the client. It is saved as a .RAR file which is similar to zipping a file except it is much better and more efficient. To unpack this file, you need a program called winrar. If you don't already have it...GET IT. Just go to google and search winrar, I believe the site is like rarlabs or something like that. Download it and install. Now you are ready to begin unpacking. Double click on the client on your desktop, the file will look like books stacked ontop of eachother (if a file looks like colored books stacked ontop of eachother, that means it is in compressed, or ".rar" form. So once you double click on the client in .rar form, winrar will automatically open up. Once winrar opens from double clicking the client, look towards the top left-hand corner. You should see a button that is an arrow that goes left then up and is surrounded by gold. Click it once. Now you should see the client file in the list in winrar. Make sure it is highlighted and click the button called "EXTRACT TO" and then hit ok. It will take a little while but once it is done, you should see the client on your desktop. There will actually be TWO copies of it now. But the one that looks like a regular folder is the one you want. Now open up the folder and go inside. Now I know you are tempted to click the navyfield button and go but we arent ready yet, there is one more step. :D
PART IV-Getting client to connect to my server----------
Now, once you are inside the unpacked client, search for a file called "hosts". Now click on it once to just highlight it. Now right click on it. Select the command "COPY". Now, minimize the client folder. Go to my computer, now go to C drive. Once inside C drive, go inside WINDOWS folder. Now find the folder system32. Once inside system32, find the folder called drivers. Once inside the folder called drivers, open up the folder called etc. Now when in etc, right click and select "PASTE". It will ask, do you want to replace hosts file with the new one. Hit YES. Now, close that out. You are now ready. Click NavyField.exe to start the game. When it says "CONNECTING TO UPDATE SERVER" hit F1 to skip it. There are no updates and its a waste of time waiting for it to realize that :)
Further instructions will be written about gameplay and I will keep a player log aswell so those of you who've sent out registration can see if your account has been created.
