basicly the game includes a program that tracks cookies and other internet activity on your computer and sents it to 3rd party companies which process this and sends ingame adverts to you when your playing
i think nobody knew about this before the pre-order and its causing some problems with pre-ordered customers, so this is a warning if you wish to purchase it
Thos bastards are not allowed to do that if they are doing it then you can complaine about it they can not give info to third party without your permission or they will be causing a crime I cant tell you exacly what it is because I studied it in french and dont know the real name in english!
offically that leaflet does tell you about it but the fact no one knew before the pre-order is lame..
What i dont get is how can games have EULAs. I mean if you decided you dont want to agree to it and try to take it back the games shops basicly tell you to fk off.
BTW windows basicly has the same thing in it, just it doesnt give you adds. Glad i wont be buying BF2142, dont feel like getting porn pop ups all the time :p

The advertising program in Battlefield 2142 does not access any files which are not directly related to the game. It does not capture personal data such as cookies, account login detail, or surfing history.
BF 2142 delivers ads by region. The advertising system uses a player's IP address to determine the region of the player, assisting to serve the appropriate ads by region and language. For instance, a player in Paris might be presented with ads in French. The information collected will not be repurposed for other uses.
Battlefield 2142 also tracks "impression data" related to in-game advertisements: location of a billboard in the game, brand advertised, duration of advertisement impression, etc. This information is used to help advertisers qualify the reach of a given advertisement.

oh no its the end of the world! EA controlling our msn mesengers and they they use them to get mor epople to buy the game. its a whole elaborate plan. and then we find out they were responsible for 9/11 too! omgwtfbbq

What's the big deal really? Just because they install a HARMLESS program that scans what things you look at and then puts some ingame ads in there for you. Look at how many other things that do the same thing but are not harmless. Look at how many other programs you install that does worse? How about DivX? How about FlashGet? How about any of thoes p2p programs like Kazza, Limewire, Morephix, etc. Thye all install the same stuff but causes popups and who knows what else. Hell even MS has the same sort of stuff built into their software. So how about that?
The last thing EA wants to do is put there nose around in something they shouldn't because if they do. They'll be sued just like all the other companies that have tried.

i dunno maybe the adv can make it cheaper to develop games n such? EA makes a game with good technology for $50 then puts in ads from companies paying them. so is it really bad for games to put the ads in the game? then with them using that software you see stuff you actually know of instead of an ad from japan or something

yea i saw a tv program with something about this on it, apparently the amount we pay for new games $50 etc. just isn't footing the bills for the rising costs in game development, thats why the sports games are jam paced full of sideline adds, because it increases the cash inflow so they can cover the outgoings. with games like battlefield its harder to get ads in on the game so i assume to cover their costs they had to do this.
