Well many servers aren't really good these days so i decided to give it all i know.

To bring the best out of your server, you have to ask yourself lots of question

I'll start from the website

1.Does your website loads fast?
This is because players might have to wait very long to make accounts , stats adding or viewing the ranking page


2.Does it have bugs?
Some websites have errors with the sql and will have lots of unnecessary errors showing on the website which causes some information to be false.Most important is the ranking page.


3.Is your website useful?
Always think in the shoes of a player,what do you need?You will need stats adder,a good working registration page of course,a ranking page to show who is stronger and please emit those gms or edited characters,a forum link and a download page , just these few good working things will make up a website.Always make sure website have the latest news.


4.Forum,make sure the main language is english
This is because english is the international language and a good server should be open to everyone.


5.Is the forum skin ,background pleasure to the eye or pain to the eye?
Some forums are too dark or maybe too bright which disturbs the eye if viewed too long, a change in forum skin will help alot.


6.What does a forum need
Firstly i'll recommend invisionfree as it is work-friendly.Easy to use
A forum will need an announcement page,where latest news are placed ,
Download page,where download links are
Server info page , Complete detailed information
General whereby players can talk about the server,
Report page to report players
These few basic things will make up a forum
Always be active in the forum.

7.Server,Does it have high latency?
To test latency, get a few people from different countries to test it out, a server that lags alot wont attract much players .This is because players do not wish to spend too much time buying items or playing a laggy server. Also, do not say server is lagless, there is no such thing. There is only very low lag as the lowest lag a server can have online is 16ms, there is nothing called 0ms. Show your profession by using the correct terms.


8.Shops
Always think in the shoes of a player, for example you put rapier inside the shop, but if you are a player,will you buy it?If no then remove it as it takes up unnecessary place.Jewels in every shop will be better.Also, if you do not put wings in shops, which i recommend, try to remove items with options so players wont be able to make wings easily.


9.Spots
Never mix high lvl mobs and low lvl mobs together , if you are a noobie player you wont be able to train.Always put low lvl mobs in the entrance of stadium,then as you go deeper put stronger mobs.Imagine the moment you step into stadium and get killed, people will have the impression that inside stadium are even stronger mobs.Try to put some closely packed spots in devias elite yetis area.


10.Golden monster drops
Always edit the bok drops yourself, sometimes the bok drops are messed up.Try not to let bok drop anything else other than excellent items, which means try to make it 100% excellent, edit the golden monster HP or damage instead.



You might be asking what jewels should I make as the currency for what type of servers.

My opinion is , a high exp server should have soul and chaos as currency.This is because soul is needed to make +6 and above items.



For a low exp server,bless and chaos to be currency,make soul 100% and sold in shops,therefore many people will have +9 maximum and stronger people will have the bless to make +10 and above

So what are the spots ?
If you want to make a hardcore server,Always put some spots,if you do not put any spots , it is pointless and if you are a player you will feel that this server isn't hardcore its just plain empty."Mugaming" has one of the best monstersetbase as spots are clearly placed in stadium.Squeeze the monsters to as close as possible so that ks war can take place between guilds, this will add on to the fun in the server.

Bok drops

If the best set are easy to obtain, it will be pointless .So bok+5 should be made freaking difficult to get to add on to the fun.A server that is maxed out easily and best set obtained easily isn't fun and yes it will attract some players for a period of time but awhile they will feel bored and go on to another server.Therefore in conclusion, always make sure players have something to do in the server, like training or getting better items.

Introducing Reset Increment

How to make your high exp server last longer and attract more players:

Firstly, I am sure many mu players do not like to play high exp servers that have players with already over 10 or 20 resets. They think that it is impossible to catch up and will most likely get owned by the strong players.

So, to get players into your server even it is high exp,

Introduce a reset limit. This will ensure no one maxs out his attributes and the server will not be flooded with blade knights or darklord.

Oh!? I reached the reset limit, what to do ? pk?

Now, the admin can consider to increase the reset limit weekly, or monthly.

For example, january reset limit is 20, feb reset limit is 30.

What is the point of this is , to let new players have to chance to catch up with the top players! And remember, always make items difficult to get , otherwise it wont be fun to see everyone in the best items.


In addition to the new releases of new monsters and maps, I hereby tell all admins of muserver , if u want to make a muserver, make a good one and dont be lazy

New maps and monsters

Make bok+5 drop exc great dragon, exc darksoul all those items

Make season 2 items drop from the new monsters.Also make the monsters strong so that new maps can be a place to hunt, a hunter's home.Therefore, other than high exp, the new monsters can drop new items.So the admin will have to work hard and edit the drops of those monsters.

Lastly, after playing many muservers, make sure lorencia HAVE SUFFICIENT MONSTERS! Its tiring walking just to find probably one or two monsters to kill.


For Low exp servers

Try to have small area spawns so players would try to afk train there, while they do that catch them and do something to them . So it would be like a police and thief game. Also, have many spawns since it is a low exp server. Golden monsters should not be so strong too . Edit monsters strength and hp to fit the players.

Also , you can try to edit zaikan, make him drop good normal items. So players can form partys to hunt zaikan for items.

How to choose your GameMasters?

Firstly,understand the purpose of GameMasters. They are in the server to provide assistance to players in the game who are in need. For example a player has problems with his or her items or there is a bug.

Secondly, A GameMaster should not party in game players. Even in events, the event date should be announced a day before to ensure fairness to all. The GameMaster must never give items to his friends or give in to beggers

Thirdly, I personally believe a GameMaster is not just an ingame player. He or she should help outside the server such as replying quickly in ragezone thread or in forums. The GameMaster should also help advertise the server at all times instead of playing in the server all the time.


Now on how to choose your GM

Most of the time GM positions are firstly given to admin's friends who are interested to help out. Well that is certainly not a problem. A good admin should never just depend on what a player claims he is and accept him as a gm. The Admin should check out his position in ragezone and his background knowledge. The Admin must trust his GMs in order to have a smooth server without any problems. An Admin also should not be too commanding with his GMs. Always maintain a friendly relationship.

Below are the things a good gm has
1. The gm must know how to handle multi-chat
2. Handle many players.
3. Does not keep his head inside the game at all times.
4. Friendly on instant messaging.
5. Handle forum posts.

And to all admins, please do not think you are the big boss and become cocky, you are just asking for hackers to find you. In addition, by making long-term players GM is the worst mistake you can ever make. They can play but they lack of a GM experience.

Just started newly and they have over 20 players online at all times


Included shops for high exp server, soul as currency. gm shop is shop4.
Noob items to +9 then to +7 then to +6( better items )
Elf have +9 shops to encourage growth of elf.

Good guide partly, but there's few points I do not agree.

This would make the upgrading of your armors too easy in the end and make the main defense too easy to achieve. I know the price of the jewel makes it harder to get but then again, shiny armors aren't that much of a shiny anymore if anyone can get them easily from just buying jewels off from the shop.

This takes half of the fun away on low rate servers. For some reason I myself feel it more entertaining when I have 3 moments to be on my toes 1. can I/we kill it? 2. will it drop money or item? 3. will it be suitable for me, or for anyone? Also the normal items that drop from the boks will just make sure that next time its possible that you will get better item, not just same boring excellent "junk".

Spots arent required for the server to be good. It is more frustrating if there's spots on the server and other people are filling it up and you have no spot for yourself. Normal spawns make the players more equal to each others while exping and / or getting items. Normal spawns also make the characters to be equal to each others, for example: elf has much weaker aoe damage than dark wizard, thereby the dark wizard gets advantage over the elf from the mass spawns.

These are also my own opinions which could show that always what you think is best, isn't always the only way to go. The guide how to make "perfect" server isn't that easy to make. There is always some things people can complain about and like it the other way around.

Hope you can get something off from this reply and maybe rethink some parts of the guide. Remember, I'm not saying that the things I pointed out would for sure be the better way to go with.

Ah , yea. Have you tried playing on low exp server with lousy armours? It gets extremely boring. Low exp= no stats for defense so have to rely on armours

High exp= stats for defense, therefore they can make do with +6 items.

For golden, of course you can kill it, but only when you have achieved like 5 resets++ . It would suck badly if it drops zen after much hunting.


For spots, that is when ksing party takes place ;)

Yes, I mainly play on low exp servers and I do know what it is like. It is good like it is and me and my parties have never had problems taking down golden mobs with normal stats and well organized party. Killing Golden Dragon at around lvl 140 with party sounds perfect for me.

well for low exp servers goldens hp and defense must be edited to meet the standard of the players.

As I said before, they are fine as they are by default, they meet the level when they can be killed perfectly with the default drops. I've never had any problems killing them on private servers when the stats are like they are on global. Don't know how you play but that's what I have come up with and I've been doing with default settings just perfectly.

That the settings are fine as they are is my own opinion, but that they can be killed fine with no resets is just pure tactics and knowledge.

Gosh, I bet you've never played a low-rate server. Sure I guess some people like servers the way you'd set them up, but when you make a general guide you really should stick to factual content and not sell your preferences to everyone.

hmm yea, true i hardly played low rate server , only played mugaming , a singapore server. It was great.
