I have 197. My goal is 200.

Averages: (All is based on EST -5 12:00pm to 7:00pm.)
New Contact Every: 1-3 Days
Online (Weekdays): 30-35
Online (Weekends): 35-45
Online Summer: 35-55

Also, what's the max amount of contacts you can have on Windows Live Messenger?

Around 120, 30 randoms ( People from ragezone and stuff that i don't really know) and about 90 people that i know or people I know really well on the internet.

ive had around the 300 mark at 1 point but ive deleted most and im down to 130ish now

Yeh, I don't talk to many of mine. Simply because they have been there for years and we've got in our seperate paths and we never see each other anymore. I hardly ever go on anymore though, probly once a week.

98% are people I know in real life. I used to have ~200 but it had many people I only knew online; deleted them all.
