I've been searching around for a rather long time to try and figure out a way to get wowemu to run on linux.
Obviously there are 2 real ways i can do it..
Use WINE (which enables you to run windows programs on linux)
Or using VMWARE and create a virtual install of windows to run it from.
I've come accross two issues though.
When using wine, for some reason it causes memory stack errors when you try to run any of the up to date emulators. Older ones run fine yet for some reason i'll get an error like this....
wow@olleh [~/UWC1.3.0]# wine WE_DK-Core.exe
err:imagelist:ImageList_ReplaceIcon no color!
err:imagelist:ImageList_ReplaceIcon no color!
err:imagelist:ImageList_ReplaceIcon no color!
err:imagelist:ImageList_ReplaceIcon no color!
err:seh:setup_exception stack overflow 0 bytes in thread 0009 eip 60295bfb esp 00231000 stack 0x231000-0x340000
I've searched around but have had no success in finding a solution to this problem. Maybe there's another emulator thats running 1.11 which is capable of running on linux?
Anyway, i then thought well i'll try VMWARE.
Knowing that this will work, it'll just take time as i'll have to upload a copy of windows to my dedicated box. Anyway, downloaded VMWARE and off we go. Until i read though the docs and find that its only a 30day trial and then you have to purchase it. So as you can see im rather stuck :P
If anyone successfully runs a wowemu on Linux please could you reply and give me an idea how you did it? Or if anyone knows and solutions to these problems. I would greatly appreciate your help.
Thanks in advance
