Is it possible to skip the SQL step to start a new PT server OFFLINE (only for me to play)
Cause in WOWemu, for warcraft servers is possible to create accounts of GM or player without use SQL or DBacc stuff... Is there anyway to do that for PT server to play offline? Im using Jpt server files that u can find here in this forum on stickys.
Please guys, thats the only part I cant get through to make my own offline server. Cant get connected cause cant create accs.:construct

So plz, can u tell me where to find here in this forum, an SQL 2000 guide for PT servers... cause all I got is for SQL 2005 and seems not to work.

Im using dPT server files ..those sticked in this forum. Is it possible to have a working pt server with that files?
All I really need is a guide to learn how to get through SQL stuff, cause no matter how hard I try... It always fails.

well, setting up the PT server isn't the easiest thing to do. so you have to invest some time for it - by reading the stickies and guides available with emulator downloads. and MSSQL 2000 has almost no setup required (for installation part) and the rest is quite decent in the guide..
Ok... but... i've never seen a SQL 2000 guide to setup PT servers. Cause all files in the stickys are from SQL 2005 (dont work for me, dont know why)
Please all I ask is... where's the SQL 2000 guide for pt servers??
and 1 more... What SQL 2000 program should I download?? there're like 5 types of SQL 2000 programs... whats the correct one to be used??

well, I had posted a link to MSSQL 2000 some time before. it was free edition and the link was directly to microsoft. you can use search in microsoft.com for finding it. and there are no guides for mssql2000, because the installation does not requires any interaction, just hitting NEXT... when you set it up, then you go with SQL database manager (you use the one written in the guide)
Lex, im sure the guides posted miss something important... the minimum knowledge required to use them. (too many posts related to that, like this one).
Anyway, ag199 you can go to microsoft or search around for mssql instalation and tutorials for it, this is a forum for private servers and is not really the main goal here teach you how to use a database system.
And too basically mssql2000 and mssql2005 are very similar once you started the database. So your trouble basically maybe will be on connection to database so check you have the users created properly or use sa account with password (if u need must assign a password), and probably you will need have sure the tcp sockets working instead only named pipes and you must have sql and windows autenthication active to reduce further troublesome.

well as far as I remember the SQL manager does not connect via ODBC so it connects to MSSQL directly and IF the mssql is running, you will be able to connect to the manager to add the database, and only then you will need the odbc bridge to be used by the game server. so if you can't connect with the manager - your mssql is not running!

Yes I can connect to my database via (SQL 2005 management studio express) ...I just can't access my database via ODBC (last step from guide)

wtf....... i didnt know that the c8master was supsoed to be your computer name... ROFL, hm, maybe thats why i was always getting Unable To Connect To Server?

Mate, i had similar problem with that last step.
what i did was. i went to Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections.
and in the Remote Connections, selected:
Local and remote connections using both TCP/IP and Named Pipes.
and that fixed my problems.
