Double connection?

SOrry if I'm posting in the wrong section....

I have a server set and updated with all the lates binaries on one machine. So far so good?

The server is working fine and dandy!

I try then to change the server from the first PC to a new one in my home network..

The server itself is running fine...and since it's on my lan neytwork, I didn't have to change my IP for users to connect (or did I?)

The issue is this:

If I'm running the Server ONLY on the NEW PC, users cannot connect to my server but I can internally and it works fine...

If I run it both on the OLD PC and the NEW, users and I can connect!!! ???

the WEIRD THING is that when they connect....all the data is being run with the mangosd.exe in the NEW PC....but I still need to have the OLD one on the new PC running!!!

SO there must be a connection error here....it's forwarding the connection to my IP to the wrong LAN IP ...but at the same time...it's taking them to the right server DB!!

Gosh I'm going nuts!!

I've done the following:

-Disabled MySql from the OLD machine
-Forwarded all my connection ports on the router to the IP of the NEW MACHINE
-Changed the parameters of the mangosd.conf and realmd.conf to point to "my local IP;3306;root;pass;mangosd /realmd"
-no firewall is actually blocking anything...

Any ideas why I need the OLD machine running with mangos server so that ppl can connect to my NEW machine running mangos server?

you can't run two mangos servers on same connection because of the ports.

you don't need double computer setup to run mangos. just keep it on one computer and as solo server on the connection and it will run ok

No that's the thing....that's what I wanted to do in the first place! lol

But I end up having to run BOTH so that they can log on to the NEW one....u follow me?

does it have anything to do with the mangos port 8085 being already registered internally into the OLD machine? :S

i'm not sure i get what you mean. bnut i tried to run two wow servers of two separate machines connected to same internet line and when i forwarded the ports for the second computer the users got immediately disconnected from main server so it's ip thing

I had same problem with my ADSL router with 4x RJ45. My router blocked all unknows connections from outside to ports on my PC...So nobody cant connect to my server even if i have public IP...I have connected 2 PCs to my router and when i start emulator on one PC, second PC can connect but PCs "outside" not...

Your router may not be at fault. Recently many ISPs have began to monitor and block any services hosted by residential internet plans. For instance Cox Communications blocks all incoming connections to port 80, along with a number of others as default. A couple years back this wasn't the case, but now that more and more people began to abuse the privilege action was deemed necessary.

There is of course one remedy, buy a business line account for an extra $30+ dollars per month and you can host anything you want.

I do....all my PC's are connected to a router....

let me try to clearify it out:

PC#1: internal IP 192.168.1.103
was running mangos server perfectly...(of course ppl would connect to my INTERNET IP not lan...)

PC#2: internal IP 192.168.1.105
moved all of the mangos db to it...and is running fine....except that EXTERIOR CONNECTIONS cannot log on..

but I can connect with my other lan PCs...

but I'm NOT RUNNING OR INTEND TO RUN 2 MANGOS SERVERS ON 2 DIFFERENT PCs...just I noticed that THE ONLY WAY EXTERIOR IPs CAN CONNECT IS IF I have both mangos realmd.exe and mangosd.exe running on both PCs..........

I hope you can help out :P

Thanks...I was going to wipe clean the hard drive on the PC#2 and reinstall everything from scratch...but I don't think it's gonna change anything...cause it's still gonna have the same LAN IP address....

really? like I would buy a online server from my ISP?

I just though of something....could it be that I didn't restart my computer after disactivating my FIRST mangos connection? like to refresh the ports?

I just remembered I never did restart my PC after I transfered my mangos db from PC#1 to PC#2...........
