An old MMO - would like some insight

Back in 2000 I remember an MMO where you lived and worked in a real life like environment. It was a game I wanted to try out. I don't remember what it was called all I remember was it was 3D, probably a bit better than Runescape's graphics. Not amazing 3D but it was 3D all the same.

I wanted to know if this game was still around. It used to be free to play but if I recall you earned money in there by working and stuff.
