[jPT] Guide to set up PT Server

[mod]Warning! This is a guide/resource thread. Do not spam here. All common questions which were answered time ago and can be searched on board will be deleted from here. Appreciation posts and repeated stuff will be removed too, to keep the thread paging low - no one likes 100+ pages of nonsense[/mod]

Hello every one,
i desided to do something that not many did...
i tryed to set up my own server 4 Mounth!
yes...long time...i got a lot of exp from that...and i wanna share my own guide to "How to set up A PT server!

This guide will help you set up your very own server FORM 0(Zero).
i payed attantion for every NEWBIE details and i MEAN it...!!!
so PLEASE avoid from asking "NOOBS" Question and read cerefully!!

ok so lets START:
In order to have a PT privet server you need:
SQL SERVER 2005: DownLoad.
SQL SERVER MANAGEMENT STUDIO EXPRESS 2005: DownLoad.
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (if you have sp2(windows servise pack 2) you will have it, if not and ppl will ask me, ill add a link)
jPT Server files(i give you my files+My Configured Hutok.ini):Renhunt Server Files Download
Some Note About The Server Files:
I used all files that availble "dPT complete files" and and jPT..
MY OPINION, AND I SAY IT AGAIN:
MY OPINION that they all crap...sorry to tell that...
ACTUALLY "DPT Server files" didnt worked at all!!!
im using normal jPT Server files(not FIRST EDITION and ill Share with you all my server FILES (SHARING its something i dont see much here)
My server files HERE Mirror1(Updated 18.2.2007)
I Mistakelly Wrote that they complete...
sorry guys...then dont...ice 1,2 not working and some other stuff...
fix it manually...people willhelp you here.

Ok,
Now that you have all these 4 FILES put them in folder(my recommend)
Call the folder "PT Files".

Installing SQL Server 2005:
press on SQL 2005 INSTALL.
Keep pressing next till you will got screen that you will have to choose what Features should be installed,
Look in that Picture.
After you did that,
Keep Pressing Next Till you will have screen to choose between "SQL Server Authentication" and "Windows Authentication"
CHOOSE "SQL Server Authentication" and type a good PassWord in Fields(type a password that you will remember,better to type it down for any case)
After that,
keep pressing NEXT till the install and you done with installing SQL SERVER 2005.
Installing "SQL SERVER MANAGEMENT STUDIO EXPRESS 2005":
very easy,nothing to do,Simply launch the install,and press next till the installation finish.

Seting up PT Server Data Base:
Run the "SQL SERVER MANAGEMENT....",
START==>PROGRAMS==>Microsoft SQL Server 2005==>SQL SERVER MANAGEMENT STUDIO EXPRESS.
A WINDOW Should Pop UP.Picture!
Authentication:Should be SQL SERVER Authentication.
Login:"sa"==>thats defult SQL LOGIN
PassWord:Remember we created a pass in installation? type it there.
PRESS "CONECT"!

ok if you logged IN, you will see that screen:PICTURE!

Extract "Jpt Server Files" to HardDrive with the most space,
if you have only 1 Hard drive so..Extract to there then.
If you have more then 1 extract to the one that he With the most space(the thing is not to Extract to HradDrive that WINDOWS Installed there,ITS ONLY MY ADVISE you can install to where ever you want)

Ok,
time to creat PT DataBase.
PRESS on the "+" in DataBase Folder.
Right Click ON DataBase Folder then Choose "New DataBase...".

NOW,
you need to creat 11 DataBases.
The First 1 will be "account_db"...
look what you need to do in the DataBase creation Window: PICTURE!
TO SEE THE HALL LIST OF THE DATABASES THAT U NEED TO CREAT GO TO:
Example: D:\jPT Server files\script.
you will see all NAMES of the databases that u need to creat.

Ok,
After you created the all databases(11 in total) you need to do a "NEW QUERY" For every one of them.

How do you do that?
Very simple!
Right Click on the first DataBase and then Choose "New Query":Picture.
Window will POP-UP:Picture!

Ok,
Remember you went to scripts Directory in "jPT server files" Folder?
go there and find the QUERY of the database name, open it(RIGHT Click on the file, then press Edit)
example: im making query for "account_db" so ill go to Scripts Directory and ill open "account_db" file.
when you opened it(the file in "scripts" folder) you need to copy all data that IN THERE,(simply press "Ctrl+A" then to Copy it,to copy press "Ctrl+C")
then go back to SQL express and PASTE all copied Data to the "New Query"(Remember we did in SQL).
After the Data Copied Press "! execute" here a PICTURE.
Do THE SAME THING with the rest of the DataBases.

Edit:when you close the WINDOW it will ask to SAVE all progress you did "with the query"...Simply Save it in the defult Directory that the program offer.

Ok,

if you did EVERY thing ok it should look like this:PICTURE!

IF it looks like that Congratz you finished with seting the data base.
IF NOT try again.(YES ALL OVER)

Adding Users:
to creat account go to:
open accountdb(dont go to account_db its a mistake...)-->open "Tables"-->search the the "game users" that start with you acc letter.
for example:i want to creat acc for user that his ID name starts with "A",
so ill go to "dbo.AGameUser" the Right Click and Choose "Open Table", Then you will see "NULL's" Fill only:
Userid:the log in name.
passwd:the Password to you account.
and the rest of the "NULL's" jost type 0 nember(it means it will be defult)
EXEPT Few NULL's and they are:
RegistDay:TYPE "1-1-1900"
DisuseDay:type "1-1-2100"
from there keep fill the fields with "0" number till you will get these NULL's:
StartDay:Type "1-1-1900"
LastDay:Type "1-1-2100"
EditDay:Type "1-1-1900"
then keep fill with "0" number till you finish.


Seting up the ODBS:
VERY easy progress, go to administrativ Tools (in Control Panel Directory)
then choose "(ODBC)Data Source".
Now choose "DSN Of System" then press "add"and scroll down till you see "SQL Server":Picture! then press Finish..

After you pressed Finish Window Should POP-UP and there is a 3 Fields to fill in that window:
NAME:name it "c8master"
Description:LEAVE IT! DONT TOUCH IT!
Witch SQL Server do you want to conect to: Go to you "SQL EXPRESS MANAGER(We seted the data base there) when you launch the program Conection Window should pop up(password,login,SERVER NAME) Copy the server NAME it should be something like "NAME\SQLEXPRESS".
copy that and paste in the "ODBC" Creation window(IN Witch SQL Server do you want to conect to Field.
Then Next and next...in that window you need to change that defult Data base sourse(the defult is "master") Change it to "accountdb"(NOT account_db) Picture!, then nect next till you finish.

After seting up the SQL and ODBC,
its time to make the system conect to your server.

Eding the IP:
Use THIS.
Its an lData in folder AND Reg file..
all you need to do is Edit the lData With NotePad and put in the GAME Client(it will ask you to replace,press YES), make it look like this:

i get an error when trying to setup the ODBC when it wants to login into the sql DB.

nvm got it to work.. setting are good now :)

i did everything u said to but my 4096.exe keep's on sayin system intillaissing

but my 4096.exe start's up and stay's at System Initializing (4096)

Everything else works i think :throw:

Works good, but my monsters are not spawning, its just giving me a timeout error router problem.

What the hack i need to do here ???

you didnt configured your hutuk.ini right...
LOOK on the guide...Very very cerefuly you will find out...look on every detail i wrote.

Are you SURE you copied the "char" folder and "Field" folder?

and with normal Game.exe you can?

Here I make everything right (at least I think), but I can't run the server. I start the 4096.exe but after some time it just crash and appear a message of runtime error...

I believe there's nothing wrong with the databases, because I created all of them and only maked 2 accs following what as said on the guide. The hutok.ini I tried to change lot of times, but keep doesn't working...
I make a search on the forum, but couldn't find anything related to the game or my computer that could be the cause of all this.
I use WinXP Professional SP2 with all atualizations and the files on the guide (obvious, lol...)

If someone can help me, I thanks a lot...
And sorry for my english, I'm brazilian.

hm Server seems to work. Cause it spawns monsters. Ive done everything in the mysql express and everything in hotuk.ini and everything on client pc.
changed the ips and made port forwarding for 10003 10007 10008 10009
But when i try to connect its unable to connect. Maybe someone can tell me whats wrong (and yes ive copied the ldata and reg file correct and executed the reg file :P)

I didnt got any questions about what USERNAME or PASSWORD i want to have.

I can't connect with admin client and normal game.exe...And about the hotut in rar folder we need to put 12 times the ip right? And we need to change setting in hotuk of jptadminclient?

Jost follow the guide Exatly, and im sure it will work!
But,
There is cases that ppl having "special" problems.
issues that even i dont have any idea how to solve,
i dont know 100&#37; of al problems,

so my friend and i both did everything down to the last detail...i start up the 4096 and it seems like its fine....even says the number of monsters....then i click on the jpt client and i get this...

The same happens to me :(, i've done everything that this guide told me :D, but it wont help :(.
It worked on my friends computer, there i translated item and monste rand many npc :).
I also got a exp fixer to rate editor. It change automatic all of ur monsters exp in 1 minute :) by rate.

I WANT HELP; DARN THIS ERROR TERMINATE stupid exe.

And so i didn't get any password or account when i innstalled the SQL :O:sq_yellow

It says me when i try install SQL mangmt studio!!! :S ->

but when i connect with my global IP in i cant , i think because i use router so i need a guide to open port for the game

is that the gm client is the last file u put on if it is so i did use that file to laucher and i got in game but why my admin lvl still lvl1

i did change the hotuk.ini to admin ID = my login IP and admin Name = my charname but i go in admin log and i saw my admin lvl = 1 i saw your spider29 admin lvl is 4 why ?

listen dude dont u have any newer files there old and second its all in chinies and when i try to /expup with a high number like 999999 it say SAVE FIALED and i get DC dude it sux

Hi thought i'd share this with u all, since a few people seem to be having same problem like i recently had.

Me and my bro been trying to get the jpt server working 4 a week now i am using Renhunts_Coplete_server_files.rar and the 3096 euro client.
After fiddling 4 ages and getting "incorrect ver" errors and "unable to connect" errors we realised that the server and client must "see" each other as how did it know it was the wrong version?

so the problem must lie else where. All of the other servers we have set up had the mssql sa password in the server files but JPT did not, so how would it log in to the database to check the username and password if it had no access to it?

So we changed the ODBC to use windows authentication..... and my server still would not let me connect , but my brothers did !!!. What he did was accidently put the server name etc in the USERS in the ODBC not SYSTEM like the guide says. After deleting my server database in the SYSTEM ODBC and creating a new one in USER DSN and with windows nt authentication ......It WORKED :D i could log in :D if u running all three services (sql, pt server, pt client) on one machine dont expect it to run wonderfully mind took ages to load etc

I'm having problems with ODBC. When I type in c8master as the username and I click the arrow to select a SQL server to connect to, it loads a blank line. And im pretty sure I followed this guide EXACTLY. Any ideas on what's wrong?

I also get a runtime error upon opening 4069.exe. I found out that by uploading the char/field folders it causes a big problem. How will I play without monsters? -.-

I have a seriuose problem... i dont really know how to get in the game with the admin acc, i dont know how to create it and neither where to put the game.exe to execute it.

i execute 4096.exe, then hotukmgr.exe, press start, and then i dont know if to enter with the game.exe in the server files archive or the game files archive. :S

so im really mixed up, can some1 clear me the path pls...

i tryed the jpt admin client in the server files archive and it says that i have the erro 150 of game guard, how to solve???

hi redhunts, thnx for the guide, i did every thing u said, my 4096.exe is up and running and i can login to my server, BUT when my char appears in the town the admin client give me an error and when i try to move my char the client closes, and my 4096.exe continue working but i cant connect anymore...

Maybe the client???, Wich client i have to use? wich version? any download link?

EDIT: i was looking for the error log and i found this:

1. does not know to the server connecten and to log in however has npcs and no monsters…
2. as I can as GM log in and me lvl or items e.g. give… thus as come myself I as GM to the game… the down load of gmclient.rar am more also not there

Uhm hi i got some trouble...i can't find administrativ Tools please send a image to me :) i were looking for 2 hours and cant find it please send image link :)

To find administrativ tools use your left mouse button to click on "start" at your desktop, choose "settings", after that "control panel", then finally look for "administrativ tools" icon on the screen that pops up.

My computer is dutch dont know where to click to get that "control panel"

EDIT: found the control panel but dont see a administration tool in there...
someone knows it and is dutch?

Everytime I install MYSQL 2005, (not express) I keep getting an error about how you need a real version or something -.- Help? (Install fails every single time)

you might need other files/programs prior install sql 2005

I am new at this too, and I got server working up to lost temple, now searching around to edite npcs, levels, clan, so on....

Hello !! pelele010101 !!! goto start button - - run - - and type CMD ... type ok and when the dos prompt show .. type ipconfig .. and tcharam!! look to your ip. the same for the other computer (server and client) .. OK?!

meh u disabled the recieving pm option and also i got an special problem.

when i run the 4069.exe i get the following error:
microsoft visual c++ runtime library

this aplication has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Im gettin the gameguard error 153 too. Renhunt(or some1 else) if u still look in this thread please help us bc im not the only one with this problem.

when i ran 4096.exe a box popped up that said "PRISTON, GAME DEVELOPMENT COMPANY, Copyright @ Priston Inc. All rights Reserved, www.pristontale.com" then a windows error message box....and when i did it with the admin client it just did it faster. Probably a noobish mistake :P
