Setting up PT Server On Windows 2003 Server

Hi guys.

i tried to use the search function with the word WAN. Maybe its not working but i got no matches
so pls dont be bad with me.

First i want to tell that ive set up a server already in offline mode (localhost on my own pc)
and it worked well for me.
Now when i tried to set it up on the windows 2003 server of a friend
i have the problem that i get unable to connect.

PT server informations:

I use jpt files which renhunts has shared (thx again ;) )


Things ive done:

- Ive setted up the Database
- Ive forwarded the ports 10003, 10007, 10008 and 10009
- I changed the ips in hotuk.ini
- I changed the ips on client side (ldata and reg)
- I allowed IP connections from remote (in sql server)


Other informations:

- I use the Ept Client and like i told before could connect on my local PC
- The server is running cause there are monster spawning


I hope you can help with those informations if u need any data pls let me know

try check the MSQL db if it is setup right check the TCP IP setting to allow incomeing and outgoing calls

Think the Db is set up right because if not it wouldnt show that there are monsters right?

And i think there is no problem with the tcp ip configuration

i attached some pics

try check on your router. if you are useing a router you will have to configure it to redirect to your ip adress

dont know how to check the router.
Its a server somewhere in Germany. I think the router has all ports open. they are only blocked due windows firewall (thats what i think)
can be any other reasons?

pls. someone who has setted up a server (public server)

step 1...
do a telnet to your server on that port to test the conectivity, if u can sucessfull then go step2, else check windows firewall and give right permisons to your server exectuable file

step 2..
check ur database connection and odbc setup. If all is ok then go step3 else do a network sniffer and check if server is answering to client.

step 3...
check the account data u using to connect. If not connection check the version compatibility of the client using if is compatible with the server u using.

Step 4
if u can login and select server but then u get dc, then check the ip configuration on ur hotuk.ini.

Ok i made a sniff now.

And i can say i opened the ports and i think the server answered.
Dunno what all the things in program mean but i can see

I created an account in accountdb (yes! not in account_db)
And i made an account nmamed Gilles in the dbo.GGameuser table

and about the version. Tested it on localhost (on my pc not on server) and it worked for me.

I had lot of problems like u. Did u try to set it from 0? Do everything again.

I already setted it on a win2003 server remotely my problem is how to put clansystem to work. Because IIS 6 dont work very well on win2003.

by looking ur image, it doesnt seems that u had get an answer from client, but though u connected to it through port 10007 and u send 2 packets with 32 bytes of data, (1st packet connection request, 2 info packets, 1 connection end packet)

So are u sure using the proper client?, it doenst seems so. Else check ur odbc connection since server seems not answering at all, so test if u can do a telnet to the server on port 10007 from your local pc, if u can then surely the trouble is the sql connection through the odbc.

odbc is setted right. and dunno if the connection works right.
i already tried to put the firewall off and to start it then.
but i got unable too. so i think i will try another client.

Only know when i tried it on localhost(on my pc) the jpt server files were compatible with ept client.

I gonna make another try lol.
it slowly drives me crazy ^^

havent thought about the situation that i have all rights when i start the server on localhost.

So can someone tell me which client i should usw
