Unable to Connect - Post about it here.

This thread is reserved for those of you server owners whom are getting the "Unable to Connect" error message with your server. This should hopfully weed out the everyday trash posts of "Unable to Connects" made in the main forum section. It would also make a good refference thread for those of you whom are currently getting the error, so you may check back on previous posts in this thread.

If you are not running a server and still get the error, please contact the servers forums about the issue and not this one. This thread is centralized for server owners. and not everyday private server clients. Remember this forum is here to help server owners, and progress development.

ok i dont want to post everywhere trying to be seen so i will try my luck in here first i am setting up a new server just for me and a few friends i play games with anyhow i followed renhunts guide which was a little hard for me to follow with his english not being so good and explinations were kind of short lived but i think i got the server straight now i just need to figure out the client and connection i have tried a few different approaches but still unsure if i am doing everything right i got the sql set up does mysql need to be running for the server to work would be my first question... do i need to run hotuk server manager as well i have it up anyhow for server 4096 and the 4096.exe is running as well it says there are 71 monsters which seems awfully low anyhow i have the jpadmin client and when i try to run that i get an nprotect error so i try launching the game client and i get to login and says cannot connect to server im not totaly understanding this are there specific ports that i need to forward in order to run this as i saw nothing about that in the guide well any help to get this running would be great i know the rest of my family is restless wanting to get time on the computer to play their own games so let me know what i can do here to get this working right oh and i have the english client is that gonna be a problem too or do i need the jpt client and where can i dl it if i do thanks...

I am unable to connect to server but when I enter nothing in username I get Wrong Account Again when I enter the id I created it loads for awhile then conn. failed

try finding SQL.DLL, and either editing it or removing it, that worked for me!

wat did u do edit it or remove it and did u have the same problem as me? and if u did edit wat did u edit

Removing the SQL.dll if you don't know what your doing makes setting up much easier, but a bit more unstable and suspectable to crashes.

i got a noob question how to make work this sql.ddl?do i need other editing in sql for server? i just know about how to edit for clan

u are talking what SQL.dll may crash the server?

No taking out the SQL.DLL will make it easier to setup, because then you can just run ODBC's to connect to the data source. However doing this is rather rigging the server to connect to the data source, and you are not using the original meant way to connect to the data source. It can cause a loss of data transfer, and possibly at times a unreliable connection to the server's database.

Only delete the one named "SQL.dll" exactly, deleting any other Dll's may cause your server to work improperly.

but icant find the SQL.dll where would it be loacated?

In the PT server folder, if you don't have SQL.dll then don't worry about taking care of it.

Are you sure your using the correct client for the server files your running?

Uh, I don't give out my files, and if you can't get the McMadness files working then what difference would it would giving you files that are more complicated to setup...

Setting up a PT server is piss easy and take's 45 minutes, the guide themselves are step by step, they couldn't get easier. If you can't get one up I would suggest simply giving up.

omg we get conn error though where we cant even log on so wats point if none of them will work

this is weird, ill be using regular jpt files, change the version in hotuk, to 1847, use client 1847 and i can log into the server. when i change hotuk to 3096, and use the jptadmin client i cant log into server... i changed my regedit to correct info and also my ldata. not sure what im doing wrong here

@ Chibi_tr3 if your using mcmaddnesses files, find sql.dll and remove or delete it, just a suggestion

Uh, the server.exe your using must be a updated kPT one, because you could ch ange the *VERSION lock all you want, but jPT and kPT operate on different ports, a 1847 client would never find let alone connect to a jPT server.

im using JPT server.exe, the japanese one, and what port is it on?

i fixed the probleme, but now i got a new (lol)
i changed item stat, monster drop and after i done it i start server

Your using your hamachi IP, use your external IP.

it doesnt work even with the 127.0.0.1 ip. Could it be something to do with versions? Maybe the rpt patch doesnt work with the ept files

Well then that should work fine. Are you using your LAN/WAN IP in your register and in the hotuk settings to make sure your connecting to yourself.

I have everything set to my external ip. (reg,ldata,hotuk) And btw at first i got rcvmsg 72 or w.e when i tried to log in but after i deleted sql.dll i got nothing.

If you can get it working without the SQL.dll just do it that way, honestly it won't make much difference.

Well its work withouth SQL.DLL but i can use the newes 2.0 ver withouth SQL.DLL? and if i dont use the sql.dll i cant have sod crown i think

You should be able to get the SoD crown either way, don't see a reason where the SQL.dll would prevent you.

There is a post in the Sandurr 2.0 files post describing how to enable the crown.

Hello guys.
I'm trying to run my PT Server but still Unable to connect.
I'm using jPT server files, and I configure it exactly like the guide says.
I'm using 127.0.0.1 in all server files and client files.
My server is 3096, and I'm using a ePT client 3098. ldata.bmp with 3096, reg file with 3096 and hotuk.ini with 3096 too, all files with the same server name. Well, all files are correctly configured.

I start the server with 4096.exe, and it's ok.
Monster ok, users ok, everything ok.

I run the game with jpclient_A, but when I'm logging in appear a korean message and I can't loggin.
When I run the game with game.exe, says Unable to connect...

So...:
1 - I'm using correctly client?
2 - Why I can't enter with jpclient_A?
3 - Why says Unable to connect with game.exe?

Please guys, help me!!!

Why are you using the jPT files anyway? Those are quite outdated and antique.

When I try to use 1855 server files, I tried to connect with 3098 client, and I see in your topic that I have to use kPT for 1840 - 1860.

I'll configure again 1855 server files and try again with them.

Im usin happys release, with 1855 client, changed versions etc, just gets a con failed for some reason, ive noticed his hotuk.ini is a little diff then what everyone else shows in there guides. Dunno what the prob is everythingis set to ip 127.0.0.1 yes im behind router, etc but should matter since im doin it localy, firewall, antis are off. My server shows 1 user when i go to log in but then it shows con failed... Ill go into more detail tomorrow if someone dont understand this. Night everyone on RZ later.

I use jPT server files with install_client_en_3100 and jp_client_A.exe (SiK say: jPT = 3096 - 3100.)
I setting up my ODBC with sql authentification(When I test my odbc parameters it say: test succefull !)
SQL.DLL is in server folder
I copy the "Field" and "Char" folders into my "PT Server" folder
I created my account manually in database.
I copy and use reg file and Idata.bmp in my game folder(tested with localhost, 127.0.0.1 and 192.168.1.27 and network:1&0)
I use local server
I start server with 4096.exe

I think I have a solution to those who are getting failed server connects. Open SQL.dll in notepad and scroll to the bottom till you see

GameLogDB GameManagement PCRoom PCRoomLog ITEMLogDB 192.168.0.68 sa dbpass SodDB

etc. See the IP? Change it to your own Lan IP just press Ctrl+H to replace the current IP with your own. You should now be able to connect to your server.

By the way, be sure to replace ALL the Ip's next to the ITEMLogDB's and other SQL scripts with your ip.

before this I was able to run my pt server without any problem ..
but now I reformatted my com and was getting unable to connect

I am using the XPT files with the 1855 client, found them on the forum here, and im only trying to play by myself with localhost ip(127.0.0.1) the thing is, i dont know how to create accounts cause the files in the xptserver folder that say "makeaccount" or something like that only lets me type in an account name but no pass and make chars :S and to top it all of when i try to connect with the 1855 xpt client i get almost instantly the message "Conn. Failed" when i try loging in with just random names and pass and admin account.. :S I have english pt client because the korean gave me same error except in korean so i was tired of not understanding :S When i start the server using the correct server exe for the 1855 client it says 8 users and i have no idea what could be wrong since i cant login at all :S any ideas?

Here i've been search and posting for a while but i supose i've been posting in the wrong section.
I've been using either BnF server files or Madness Repack, and both of them have not beenable to work correctly for me. I've tried to do lan, and i port forwarded most of my ports for the wan. I've used OBDC for this..and tried SQl.DLL but both have not worked. I'm currently using Sik's hotuk.ini for the server. I'm not really sure on what i can do but can someone please help guide me.
P.S. I've seen the How to create your own server video. I did everyhting on it and yet it still doenst allow me to connect. (is there somthing missing that i'm doing wrong?)

Hello, i post here before become mad :).

Well, i'm now using,
kPT Client 1871 (Fully patched), mcmadness respack, with update for endless tower, all is ok for moment, i have follow the nice guide that have been made too.

The problem i encounter is, first, if i use ODBC, 8 "invisible" users is made, and i keep have connect. failed when i try to connect (DSN System, c8master, ORDINATEUR\SQLEXPRESS, sa/mypass, TCP/IP) and i've seen something "nice" in log, it keep saying : "Error*: 18456, Gravity*: 14, State*: 5" and i've read that this problem come from an invalid ID, ok, i've test something, is to make a c8master user in system user, what happen? "Error : 18456, Gravity : 14, State : 8" means that i have a wrong password, maybe i'm not smart, but i'm not stupid >>.

Now, if i try to use SQL.DLL, one user is reading (the one i have made) it's ok, ben it keep saying connect. failed.

Should i take a gun and shoot myself?
