Ad's with virus's? come on ragezone...

I've been around ragezone for quite a long time, minaly in the L2 departments. I log onto ragezone from ALOT of differant computers. At work, we have a couple dozen work stations we alternate between. Everytime I log onto ragezone there, I get a popup add that trys to make the comptuer open and install outlook express... Wtf?

I get annoying pop ups from other computers.

My home PC, I cleared my cahce and cookies, and open up rageszone, Pop up, and then AVG pops up with a virus alert. WTF RAGEZONE?!


As I sit here typing this complaint, other popups came and tried to install antivirus and other bullshit onto my computer, but AVG and another program intercepted them... Ragezone... Wtf?

I GM on your L2 server... But I cant keep visiting ragezone, and I'm sure your going to lose alot of potential members with bullshit like this... What happend to the good classic ragezone? Ragezone selling out? Wtf?

i dont have a problem with it, its just you.

You've probably just got a BHO or other type of add-ware and it pops up when you visit Ragezone.

Happens to me when I'm not logged in. Happens no matter where I'm at. It's not that big of a deal to me.

Aye, you get the occasional pop-up if you're not logged in on the main page but none of them try to install Viruses =\

Yeah it happens to me when im not logged in also, just login to fix the problem :D

Get firefox? and a popup blocking addon.

ragezone would never try to put a virus on your computer, get a virus scanner etc mate

It seems I wasnt able to stop the infection.. ragezone and hotmail are the only sites i've been to today... I on a full blown scan now trying to clean up the stuff.

I dont believe rageozne gave it to me, I believe ragezone was loose with letting who it lets advertise on its site.

Dont get me rong, if no one else at all has had this issue, it would make it pretty apparent "this guys must be a dumbass"

Through a short little test, I have concluded that I am still getting pop ups whileletting a ragezone window sit open. I'm also gettings Ad's within the browser window on the ragezone site.

Going to other Lineage sites and google searchs and what not do not yeild these same results of ragezone window is closed.

I guess RAgezone hates me....

I figured out that the issue was IE's fault, which i guess falls onto me. I was cleaning up my PC today clearing all files and what not, doing this for some reason set IE to accept all cookies and not block popups and security lvl of none. Or, someone pulled a prank on me.... anyway, I still dont trust those popups... but I beleive it was IE's setting that allowed my comptuer to fall victim to it. Case closed i guess.

I only get popups when I'm logged out.
After I'm logged I dont have popups

I do get a pop up the first time I use RZ on a browser. I need to load the page once more else I cant enter the Id or password. Gets lil bugging but thats only at teh start.

If I dont close the browser - the problem is gone.

BTW, the pop up leads me to a porn site. Wazzup with that?? Saying - get hookers close and cheap. LOL.

I've never ever gotten a popup on RageZone tbh..

I've never gotten a pop-up from ragezone. If I did ff would block it and if something tried to download, fire fox would ask me if I wanted to download it, but BEFORE that nod32 would warn me and prevent anything (if it was malicious). Also Prevx1 would have a say if it was a trojan, so I'm not getting anything from anybody.

sucks to get a virus anyways. hate them, anti-virus programs have difficult times getting some out.

I seriously doubt the pop-up's were actual virii, probably just some malicious javascript (like scripts that pop-up windows that can't be closed, or scripts that loop pop-up scripts so it just keeps popping-up windows over and over, endlessly.)

These scripts and others like them aren't viruses, and most of them don't even use browser exploits, but any half-decent anti-virus software, and even some anti-spyware software, will detect them, and save you from pulling out your hair in anger.

If you're using IE, you might want to pay a bit of attention to the browser's settings and also install a pop-up blocker.
The same goes for FF.
And the same with Opera, except the pop-up blocker, as it has one built in.
Any other browser...well, you should probably switch to one of the above mentioned.

when i am not logged in i get only ONE popup and it gets blocked by Firefox... when i am logged in i have nothing, its all kool...


Maybe u have a spybomb or something...

I can visit sites that would totally inundate a lesser machine. It's all in the configuration.

No possible if you are inactive. You get auto logged off when you are inactive for about 15 minutes or so. That is one thing that seriously irritates me.

I highly doubt that ragezone has good control over their ads. The most control probably given to RZ is chosing which advertising complany. That advertising company decides which ads are chosen NOT ragezone. Thus you should take up the complaint with the advertising company and not ragezone. 'Nuff said.

yeah they do, one of them tries to install a trojan to register what your shopping habbits are, ok fair enough not majorly worrying, but still a bit retarded really. surely theres another way to make money without these invasive adverts.

If you delete cookies then it probably wont auto log u into page, some people probably have ccleaner that does it automatically, or you can just set windows to do it automatically.

Yes most people know how to disable pop ups, but with some applications this can be a pain in the ass, chat applets, flash games all being disabled, some pop ups will still get through whatever, just depends how they've been written and linked to pages.

It's already been said that it only happens when people arent logged in, so subs or regular members, it only happens when you arent logged in.

The main problem is you dont get a chance to log in before the adverts start popping up. on the homepage theres ads if you're not logged in I believe.

Thats news to me =o as its never happend to me either. Have you taken a breeze through your internet settings ?

Only get a popup when I first visit RZ, that's if I'm not logged in. It's nothing big.

Yep did that. They are all fine. It's not with the browser. Most sites do have an auto-log off option for idle users to increase forum speed. I guess the same is the case with RZ.

But in all honesty it's not really a virus in the true sense of the word, more a bit of spyware, which is a bit gay, but in all honesty doesnt really put your computer at much risk.

it really is some quind of trojan or whatever
i dont kno the exact name anymore
but it took some time to completly delete it
had to find a solution on google
cause avg was unable to do it on my friends pc

Well I fixed my problem. The pop-up does not show up anymore but still the 1st try to log on does not succeed.

EDIT: I miss the hooker ad :(

i do get popas from ragezone if not logged in.


when i double click so that i can choose my user with the mouse. when i do the double click i get a random porn popup

ragezone popups crashed my computer and it wouldn't boot up and it cost me 600 dollars to get the problem fixed and all i do is go here hotmail and RZL2

I've had many players (from Lineage) complaining to me in game about viruses in the popups here too. "Why is ragezone trying to give me a virus" --

Even though its not ragezone itself, if you get the popups when you visit it does seem so. Most people aren't that savvy to know they need to use firefox or a pop-up blocker, or that its not really a big deal. If they see their virus scanner go off, they think only: Ragezone is giving me a virus.

So if you log in and don't get them, sure it might not be a big deal to you, I am logged always when I come to ragezone too.
However perhaps it does deserve more than a "well doesn't happen to me" as the number of complaints seems to be increasing.

(At least now I suppose I have some things to tell those who ask me about it)
