[Help] Blank Screen

I have spent ours trying to get this working with no luck!
If anyone can help I would really appreciate it!

[Problem overview]
I can log in and create an account without any problems, but when I click start it goes to a blank screen (black screen) and freezes.

[Files and versions]

• Core files taken from http://users.telenet.be/thedeath/Mir2/LOMCNM2.rar

• All Gates (exes) and M2Server.exe taken from http://users.telenet.be/thedeath/Mir...20of%20Mir.rar

• Full Database taken from http://forum.ragezone.com/f62/updated-data-244804/

• Client 2.3 taken from ftp://ftp.legendofmir.net/

• Mir2.exe and Mir2.ini taken from http://mir2.ragezone.com/2.3/client(1).rar

[Setup, what I did]

I followed the guidelines roughly from http://forum.ragezone.com/f62/2-3-server-set-up-guide-231197/

(I say roughly because the file locations in the guide doesn’t match that of those in the LOMCNM2.rar file provided, and I later switched to using the 'full' database provided above)

Steps: -
0) Moved maps taken from client into c:\mirserver\m2server\map
1) Change every IP to 127.0.0.1 (previously in the file they were either 192.168.1.3 or 192.168.0.8, I left all 0.0.0.0 alone)
2) Setup Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and created the database "mir2".
3) Restored the full mir2 database (see Files and Versions, above).
4) Changed the connection details in the two relevant files (pretty sure this worked).
-C:\mirserver\M2Server\!Setup.txt
-C:\mirserver\DBServer\dbsrc.ini
5) Changed the client side Mir2.ini IP's to 127.0.0.1
6) Started it up, created account, created character (resulted in black screen).
7) Closed everything, started it up again, logged into my account (resulted in black screen).

Note: the information is being saved to the database.

[Fixes, tried and failed]
1) Disabiling unpnp
2) Restoring the 2 seperate baks' into the database.
3) Fixing the mapquest txt file (see post below).

it won't work as your M2Server isn't loading fully.

Your mapquest has received a code 14 error. Go to M2Server\Envir\, open up mapquest.txt, and remove line 14. (Ghoul) - Or just remove all of the bottom Ghoul lines. (3 of them I think)

Sorry, I should have made it clearer.

The zip file i provided above is only so you could see the settings, I decided not to include the 200MB of maps and additional files that are found in the M2Server folder and only what was needed.

Thank you for the tip on map quest (wont fix the problem though).

I noticed the mir2.exe in your m2server is 1.55mb, mine is 1.62mb. (Got from legend of mir.rar file)

Have you tried the 1.62mb in your m2server folder, as well as in your client? And I presume you're using your 1.55mb exe in your client as you're using it in your m2server?

Also I presume you've setup ODBC after creating your DB and restoring it?

I'm not too sure what else it could be at the minute. (I've not actually looked through your files much, but maybe I'll get a better chance later on)

Do you mean the "Legend Of Mir.rar" file that i listed above, because that includes the 1,589 KB mir2.exe...

It's important to note that I managed to connect to the ragezone beta server using the client without any problems, but when I try to connect to my local one it does'nt work.

As for the querrys about the database, I am running my MSSQL Server service under the instance name RAMUH (as per in settings files provided), and the connection seems fine.

in the bottom of the m2 server you have the ip and other info missing>

also occassionally after selecting my char it took about 10-12 seconds for the welcome notice to come up, (running server and client same pc), and once came back with forecful disconnect blah blah, just tried again, and got in ok 2nd attempt

The IP's are not missing I had just scrolled down in that window by mistake... They are there.

Waited 5 minutes with no luck getting through from login.

Goto the merchant table (in SQL,your DB), then scroll to the bottom and remove the last two NPC's there, then that should clear the npc error in the m2server and fix the problem (hopefully).

as i can see Tarima, your files is not fully updated... go get the new updates that TD posted

just a guess but i believe it has allready been said above the
Mir2.exe and Mir2.ini taken from http://mir2.ragezone.com/2.3/client(1).rar
this exe is it for ragezone ? or for your server files, if its is for ragezone then you are using the wrong client.exe.
you need to run the client.exe that comes with the
http://users.telenet.be/thedeath/Mir...20of%20Mir.rar file.

Also when you have finally got ingame you could try getting all the latest data from this link http://forum.ragezone.com/f62/sql-si...tables-250156/ it includes the guild functions.

Was this problem actually resolved and if so how?

I have exactly the same problem and making slow going of it at the moment.
