How to setup the server

First, make sure that any other SQL Server, apache server and skype is SHUTTED DOWN.
Then follow this simple steps to get your server up and running:

1, Download Mangos.rar and extract it to C:\

2, Extract the map files (Copy ad.exe into your WoW-folder and create a folder named "maps", then run ad.exe) and copy the files into the Mangos folder. (Additional: Download the map files from the bottom of this post)

3, Run start.bat, a website will pop up, but just close it.

4, Start realmd.exe, then start mangosd.exe, you can start playing when it's done loading.

It's all tested...and it works. If it doesnt work for you, your doing something wrong.

No other SQL server needed, all is included in the package.

How to make your server online.

1, First, download SQLyog (From the bottom of this post), connect with the following info (make sure MySQL is running, use start.bat):

Connection Name: *Anything*
MySQL Host Address: localhost
User name: root
Password: mangos
port: 3306
Database(s): mangosd;realmd

2, Then, go into your realmd database, and find the table called "realmlist", right click it and choose "view data".

3, Change the address column to your IP address or your no-ip (www.no-ip.com).

4, Save and close.

5, change your realmlist to your IP or no-ip and connect!

PS: If your behind a router, make sure the following ports are opened:

8085
3724

How to open minimanager to others

1, Go to Dynamic Network Services, Inc. -- DynDNS -- Welcome and create a host. (Example: server.dyndns.org)

2, Go to your hosts file (C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts)

3, To the bottom of your hosts file add the following:

127.0.0.1 server.dyndns.org (or whatever you chose as your host name)

4, make sure apache is running (use start.bat) and try to connect to server.dyndns.org (or whatever you chose as your hostname)

PS: Make sure to change the IP addresses of config.php in W:\www\scripts

PSS: If your behind a router, open port 80.

Your 362K SQL-DB doesnt work, import-error? Ive downloaded it a few times, always the same problem at line 351 (69K).

With other Databases i cant use the updates. Any idea? u.u;

Don't import anything, the SQL server is already added and pre-configured.
Just Download or extract the maps, put it in your Mangos folder, run start.bat and start the server and your done!

i'll tell you what to do STEP BY STEP

1, Download Mangos.rar

2, Open Mangos.rar with Winrar and extract it to C:\

3, Either download the maps files or create your own by using ad.exe

4, Put your map files in C:\Mangos

5, Run start.bat

6, Start Realmd.exe, then start mangosd.exe

7, When it's done loading, you can play!

Follow this steps exactly and it works, don't do anything that it dont says, In the Mangos.rar there already is a SQL server with all the needed files execute in to it, you dont have to execute ANYTHING into the SQL server.

I have managed up to the point of installing MYSQL 5.0, it installs ok then i select "standard configuration" then click install as Windows service, service name "MySQL5" launch the mysql server automatically, then next, modify security password as "mangos" then next and execute.


I then run SQLyog, localhost, user:root, pass:mangos, port 3306, add databases:mangosd;realmd

there are only 3 folders in each of the databases shown in SQLyog thatere are NO tables there to alter the realmlist.

Do i import the databases ?

if i run start.bat it executes very quicly and closes, as do realmd.exe and mangosd.exe.

My main Mangos folder is intact with all the maps in.

the reason start.bat closes very quickly is that you got another SQL server running on your comp.YOU DONT NEED ANY OTHER MYSQL SERVER!! EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE!!

Questions:
1)I was using older version before with only mangos and realmd database. This newer version have more database w/c are mangos, mangos_bc, mangosd, realmd, and realmd_bc. Can u kindly give me a short description as to what this databases for so i can know what to edit in future problems on my server?
2)What client version in needed? On my previous mangos i was running, I was using client 2.0.12, with this newer mangos version i cant enter the realm.

question 2 already solved. Realm selection problem was solve by server reboot.

I cleaned "mangosd" and tried to restore with SQLyog, but i get an error at line 133 while restoring... *blinks*

Ok... didnt work so far, same error again. I deleted all DB and all files of the repack and started a re-download, re"install" and restart. Wonder why the import of the CustomDB into mangosd always fail...

I downloaded the funserver-release and checked hyjal again, the area is empty. Is it necessary to put your customDB into the funserver package too?

The CustomDB seems incomplete at line 812 - 814 (viewed with notepad++), the inserst statements look incomplete, the finishing ; is missing?

Maybe your export tool cant handle with too long lines?

Well...i didn't add Hyjal to my fun server repack, cuz it gives some errors when starting the server.
Hyjal is compatible with Mangos rev3657
And im to lazy to spawn Hyjal myself :P

You said the latest repack which I got was compatable with 2.1.1. What do I need to do to get it to work? When I try to login to the server it gives me a "unable to validate game version" error.

I've tried using the ad.exe in the wow folder but it just keeps giving me an error msg:

Error opening archive ./Data/patch-2.MPQ

Can you please upload the MAPS archive on another host ? That "SendFile" host is crappy and I'm downloading from it with low speed.

kolbot, when I said that that I cannot make an account in the miniMANAGER the MySQL server was already started... if the MySQL server wouldn't have been started how could I enter the miniMANAGER ?? It didn't let me create accounts on the miniMANAGER...but now thanks to Triplex987 the problem is solved.

My question still remain...

Is there any tutorial how to place MOBs and custom portals to a X/Y/Z coordinate availible? Mob placement works via ingame addgo ect., but the changes wont be saved in database. So i guess you need to know your placement coordinates and put the mobs via SQL ...

Too place mobs, type .addspw <MobID>
To find a mob's ID, type .lookupcreature <MobName>

The mob dissappears after you spawned it yet, but it will be back after you restart your server.

Cool! Can you set up a mobs level manually? As far as i see, if you add any, its auto-chosen in the pre-defined mob level range, now theres the question if you can define it free?

Hey i was looking for some help with this... i loaded everything up and when i try to log in with my TBC Game Client currently on 2.0.12... and when i try to log on it automatically goes to downloading new update....? how do i fix this ? what do i do? change the realmlist? (just to let you know, i have the realmd.exe open and i have loaded up the mangos.exe)
and also my mangos constantly restarts it self if i open the Mangos restarter....?

Heyas,

I downloaded the above rar and got everything installed but am having problems getting the client to run. I'm running patch 2.1.0 (6692) which is stated is possible to use, but I keep getting "Unable to validate game version." error. Is it actually possible to get it working with 2.1.0? I'm in a dialup-inflicted area (no other option:sq_yellow ) so if I can get it running with what I downloaded already that would rock.

Also, the ad.exe wouldn't work with 2.1.0 (6692). I downloaded another one from the mangosproject site and was able to get the maps extracted. I'm wondering if there is another change that is effecting the dbc folder?

At any rate, since you say its possible I just wanted to check to see if there was some other magic thing I need to do or a setting somewhere that isn't in the original guide that I need to change somewhere to get it to work.

Also I downloaded the maps file that you link at the bottom of your post.

Hey , i got another question... what do i change my REALMLIST to? I have tried 127.0.0.1 and when i try log in all it says is your account information is wrong... i log in with USER: root PASSWORD: mangos and if i do 127.0.0.1;3306 it just automatically disconnects me...? please help

Thanks alot. Changelevel works, but i wonder ... range 1-63? If you do a funserver up to 254lvl, you should be able to set lvls highter than 63. *chuckle*

Oh and ... with .del you can delete misplaced mobs, but how can you delete gameobjects added with .addgo?

The command .delobj would work, but it always asks for a specific ID ...?!

thank you. Btw, account registration works fine, but login in mini manager fail permanently for all accounts with "wrong PW/Usr name)". DB-Connection is up, maybe a php-file problem?

You gotta use Firefox to login to the minimanager...
i dunno why...
But it seems to only support Firefox.

Firstly, let me say thanks to Triplex987 for making this repack. I've been trying to start a WoW server for a while, and this was the only method that worked for me.

Works great, and I can play by myself, but when I go to change the ip address in realmd, mangos and the SQL server, it doesn't let me connect. Is there something that I missed?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Don't change your IP address in mangos...Only in the realmlist table in realmd.
It should work.

So I should only put my actual IP in the realmd file, not the mangos one (I was referring to the files in the mangos folder, not the stuff in SQYlog)? I'd imagine I have to put it in SQYlog too.

Btw, I dunno if this matters or not, but I don't have the internet at home (I'm at a library, right now). I'm trying to get this to work on my LAN at home. ^.^

So is WoW 2.0.12 TBC? I'm working on setting it up now, and have only used 1.12.1 setups in the past. Does everything work in these repacks? Flying mounts, instances, blah, blah, blah?

okay, mini manager may be fixed by reinstallation/reunpack. But still... any idea how to change level of mobs to 64 or highter? Would be hard to find the right mob in database just by ID ...

First, GREAT GUIDE!! Ok, im new to this and need a good guide so thanks again for it. But when I do start.bat, then realmd.exe, when I open Mangosd.exe it flashes open and is gone..I doubt that is supposed to happen but I really dont know.. Please help me! :biggrin2:

First, thanks a billion for putting this up, I know nothing about programming or using servers, so I would probably have never been able to start with out your pack, or atleast had the guts too... :w00t:

Second, I have the server up and running and have had for sometime now. I have a couple of questions about what works on it and what doesn't...

For instance, the burning crusades expansion, no one can get to hellfire etc, is this just a mangos thing or what. When I try to use the GM command it says I do not have the burning crusades installed, but I know I do... :confused_

Also, how do I apply your fun sever sql. I haven't the foggiest where to start.

And then I suppose I am an idiot, but I can't seem to be able to back up the characters at all, i tried using the back ups in minimanager, but i keep getting these errors, especially when I try to apply a backup...

Any info you can help me with would be great, thanks...

How do i update to 3908 SBD197 (by the way the DL link doesn't seem to work for me) without loosing data, especially accounts/characters?
